    Joe Montana was listed as the seventh-string quarterback while Rudy Ruetttiger was in his senior year; the inspirational player in the movie Rudy. Joe saw no playing time whatsoever with the varsity squad.

    Mike here, I remember watching Joe in an interview when “Rudy” hit the silver screen.

    Joe said, (more or less) “we won the game and next thing I know the team is carrying one of our players off the field and I remember thinking, “who is that guy?”.

    I make my kids watch that movie EVERY year just around this time. Thanks for reminding me to plug in the tape into the VCR. I learned to love Notre Dame Football from Irish Nuns in Catholic school. We used to pray for the football team on Fridays in the courtyard of our school. Man, those were the Good Old Days! Getting your knuckles cracked with a ruler by Penguins that were Diehard Football fanatics!
