I had a flight stop-over in Beirut in the mid-’70s. It was a hotbed of war between encroaching Muslims pouring in from other countries and “Christian” soldiers. The latter were patrolling and protecting the airport runway with machine guns. They were visible from the airplane’s windows and only a few feet away. This may have to happen in Georgia, military forces assigned to protect certain airports.
