It would be a good idea to suspend the convention for a week. That way maybe all the dumb f@ck protesters would have to go back to Europe and Californian. Besides, the GOP could use the opportunity to show some support for the gulf coast by donating time money and prayers. It could be a real media coup for McCain to lay a few sand bags. Let’s face if the hurricane hits hard all the media is going to use it as an excuse not to cover the convention anyway.

Yeah i agree. wouldnt send the right message to have a convention with something like that going on. and anyone who was supposed to attend from the coast wouldnt make it. just hope for the best

So the RNC will table politics for a week in respect for the devastation of the hurricane. I’d be willing to bet a lot of money the we’ll get several statements from the Left during the week linking McCain and the Republicans to Katrina.
Hell, fatass Michael Moore has already said as much.

They have to delay it. It is a party, and any real business can be still be conducted by telecommunication.

Another reason to delay is the spike of contributions coming in after naming Palin as his VP candidate. While the above reasons also make sense, I think this one is the clincher. Direct private campaign contributions are over once McCain is the official candidate if he opts for Public financing, which he has said he will do.
