McCain’s Drilling Plan Vs Hussein’s Tire Pressure Plea
The great tire gauge debate has gotten over-inflated.
First McCain and the Republicans ridiculed Obama for suggesting that people can save oil by adding some air to their tires. The RNC handed out tire gauges in mockery.
Now Obama is accusing the Republicans of taking “pride in being ignorant.”
“My Republican opponents, they don’t like to talk about efficiency,” said Obama, who spoke in Berea, Ohio, today about being in a town hall meeting the other day where he spelled out his energy plans and was asked what an individual can do. “So I told him something simple… ‘You know what, you can inflate your tires to the proper levels… If everybody in America inflated their tires to the proper level, we would actually probably save more oil than all the oil we get from John McCain drilling right below his feet there, whereever it was that he was going to drill.
“Now the Republicans are going around — this is the kind of thing they do, I don’t understand… they’re sending little tire gauges, making fun of this idea, as if this is Barack Obama’s energy plan..
“Two points,” Obama said. “One, they know they’re lying about what my energy plan is. But the other thing is, they are making fun about a step which every expert says would absolutely reduce our oil consumption by three to four percent…. It’s like these guys take pride in being ignorant…
“They think it’s funny that theyre making fun of something that is actually true,” the Democrat said. “They need to do their homework, because this is serious businss… Instead of running ads about Paris Hilton and Britney Spears, they should go talk to some energy experts and acutally make a difference.”
RNC spokesman Alex Conant stands by the Republican’s plan for off-shore oil drilling:
“Rather than demanding Americans inflate their tires, Obama should be demanding Congress return to DC to vote on a real energy plan,” Conant said. “Obama is wrong: Inflated tires are no substitute for oil drilling and a comprehensive energy plan.”

August 5th, 2008 at 7:56 pmYou know what the problem is with asking people to keep the tires inflated for the 250 million registered vehicles in the US? They simply won’t do it. Even if 30% of the people did keep their tires fully inflated according to the numbers of 3 to 4% reduction of oil for 100% compliance, we would be looking at .9 to 1.2% reduction. Also, no one can guarantee even 30% compliance … but… drilling and pumping domestic oil out of the ground will DEFINATELY have an effect, GUARANTEED!

This is a problem that can’t be solved by simply conserving our way out of it. Our lifestyle demands LOTS of cheap energy. I don’t want my children (whenever that may be) to have to live like those pansies in Europe, I want them to enjoy all the benefits I had as an American!

obamas energy plan is to make the american people suffer with high energy prices until his “alternative” energy sources are going to be useful. probably in 10 or more years. next pelosi will say let them eat cake
