New Orleans Prepping For `Cane Gustav: Stocking Up On … Guns - With Video

August 27th, 2008 Posted By drillanwr.

Remember Hurricane Katrina and how George Bush and his administration stormed into New Orleans after the big bad storm and levee breaks and flooding … Oh! and how Bush and his storm troopers collected all the guns—

Huh?

What??

Who did—

Oh … never mind.

We just got a call from Devline Rossell, a charter captain based out of Venice Louisiana. He was shopping in New Orleans to get some supplies before the arrival of Gustav (currently listed as a tropical storm that has left at least 22 dead in the Caribbean) and reported that the item most in demand was not food, clothing or shelter.

“I just left a sporting goods store and you would think that the number-one selling item would be plywood or potable water or gasoline right now,” he said. “Apparently it is AR-15s and .223 ammo. I watched at least 20 people buy AR-15s and cases of .223.”

Can’t say I’m surprised. After the nightmare that was Katrina I think it would be unwise for anyone to assume the state, local or federal government could guarantee his or her personal safety during a natural disaster. Of course, I think it is foolish to assume that under any circumstance.

The AR buying spree demonstrates that people don’t think of it as an “assault weapon” but rather an arm that is ideally suited for self-defense, which it is. I also suspect that for some of the folks this is their first firearm. Goes to show that not only is there no such thing as an atheist in a foxhole but that there is no such thing as a gun-control advocate in one either.

If everyone is buying rifles now after what happened before, I would strongly advise ANY and all law enforcement people in that area to LEAVE THEM THE FUCK ALONE, because this time they’re more than likely going to open up on your thug asses.

I was in NOLA this afternoon checking on a few things with new tenants and another in a long line of F/U’s by the local utility companies. All of my tenants (college seniors, med student, law student, biomed eng prof, and MBA student) who didn’t have a gun were headed out to buy guns. Every last one of them EVEN THE VERY LIBERAL ONES, and I MEAN VERY LIBERAL. I don’t think that any of them view them as assault weapons but for personal defense.

I am glad i don’t live down there. Or in an area that gets hit by stuff like that. (cincinnati ftw)

My only concern if I lived in NOLA would be the tons of newly-armed people who have no experience with firearms - they are the ones you’d have to watch out for.

Funny how during NOLA the LEO’s didnt go into the burbs where the folks were having “neighborhood” watch parties standing around with thier shotguns. Instead they went after individuals on boats and in apartments.

The LEO’s that took part in that action should be ashamed of themselves…period …end of story. An emergency is declared, there is no level of protection afforded to the citizens from normal resources and it is decided that now is the time to disarm your citizens… excuse me … but WTF kinda nonsensical thinking is that?

Sorry for the double post.. But I hope that Gustav misses Naw Leans… but if it does hit I hope the citizens shoot any “looter” on sight.

I cannot find the photo I took, but a sheet of plywood on a building on St. Charles Ave. was painted, “I have a shotgun, a claw hammer and an ugly woman.” When we went into NOLA after Katrina, that was the one site that I LMAO over.

Most of the home looting was after Katrina by “itinerants” who were hired to gut the downstairs areas. After dark they would return and remove everything upstairs that was intact.

When seconds count the police are only minutes away!

Guess those Lib’s are glad the USSC upheld the 2nd Ammendment now.
