It's old but I have always loved "Battle Cry". Written by Leon Uris, it is a great story about Marines in WWII

The Dirty Dozen

Yeah I know the left would think it typical of military personnel, a bunch of convicts, I look at it as a positive, because it shows how Americans can kick serious ass in war.

There really are so many good ones, typically, as said before, those starring The Duke, and almost all the ones maid regarding WWII. But that was when the leaders of Hollywood were American Patriots in the most part, the Jews that were appreciative of the American power that was fighting to save their religious brethren.

Now the hollyweird elitists are anti-American, they inherited the reins of power, but never learned what it was for people to suffer, other than in their personal homosexual fantasies...

Both are among my favorite movies ever. You'd probably like Battle Cry, check it out if you have not seen it.

Stalag 17 .... shows the spirit of Freedom, the evil of Nazism, the absolute problem of a mole living amongst the captured soldiers. Regardless of how amenable the enemy may appear (Sargent Schultz), there can still be lethal enemies residing in our midst,(the mole, Mr. Price) Feel free to replace the name of Mr. Price and Sargent Schultz with any name from the MSM or most anyone from Hollywood....or the Democrat party.

Sands of Iwo Jima – First John Wayne movie I ever saw. I must’ve been 8 or 9. I cried when he was killed.

The Alamo – John Wayne’s speech on the word “Rebuplic” classic
Flying Tigers
Mr. Roberts
What Price Glory – James Cagney – awesome movie!

They Were Expendable – At the end, the last flight out, Robert Montgomery’s character stands up to give his place to a man when that man asks someone to take a letter to his family. John Wayne’s character makes him sit down because he had a duty to return to the States to train more PT boat crews. I swell up every time I see that. They don’t make’em like that anymore.

The Fighting SeaBeas
Guadalcanal Diary
Back to Bataan
Flying Leathernecks
In Harms Way
Midway
Green Berets
Fort Apache – Yes a western but it is still our boys
She Wore A Yellow Ribbon – Yes a western but it is still our boys
Rio Grande – Yes a western but it is still our boys
Horse Soldiers – Yes a western but it is still our boys

Gettysburg – Even though I have no real warm spot for Yankees, the sequence when the south charges Jeff Daniels position and they hold, is just awesome.

God’s and Generals
Sand Pebbles

Destination Tokyo – If Cary Grant’s character’s speech about his little boy sitting in his lap and getting a haircut doesn’t make you cry like a baby, then you ain’t never been away from your kids.

The Long Grey Line - If you haven’t seen this John Ford Classic about West Point, then shame on you, go watch it.

Band of Brothers – Technically not a movie but damn good.
Saving Private Ryan
Black Hawk Down
Sergeant York – Awesome, just awesome
Patton – Make the other son-of-a-bitch die for his!
The Longest Day
We Were Soldiers
The Patriot
The Outlaw Josey Wells – Just cause Clint is the man and for the line….”Dying ain’t much of a living boy”

Twelve O'Clock High – Awesome movie, Gregory Peck is one of my favorites of all time (behind John Wayne of course)

Full Metal Jacket – Only because Gunny is a badass. I disown the rest of the movie, although we do quote the door gunner in the Huey a lot around here……just kidding.

Thirty Seconds Over Tokyo
Battle of The Bulge
To Hell and Back
Memphis Belle
Run Silent Run Deep
The Guns of Navarone

Battle of Britain – No, this is not an American movie but I think it shows a common bond between how we felt about freedom back then.

Sahara – Very good Humphrey Bogart war movie.

Heaven Knows Mr. Allison – Robert Mitchum at his best.
The Great Escape
Ike - Countdown to D-Day – Awesome, Tom Selleck does a great job as Ike
Macarthur – Gregory Peck does it again!
Wind Talkers
The Young Lions
The Story of G.I. Joe
Battleground
Pork Chop Hill
Merrill's Marauders

Great list with which I agree.
Add "The War Lover" with Steve McQueen.
All the Cavalry movies by John Ford inspired "Esprit de Corps" very influential in my youth.
"Full Metal Jacket" for realism despite the fuckup who killed Sgt. Erme Earl. The determined base of fire and move out maneuvers during the retaking of Hue take you back or into the gritty shit. "Heaven Knows Mr. Allison" was wonderful, seldom seen but one of the best. Fierce love of country, chivalry, loyalty to God, Country and Corps.

African Queen does fit the criteria. Bogart's character was a yank, Rosie's brother the Reverend was killed by Germans and the gunboat, "Louisa" that the Queen sank with those gas cylinder torpedoes controlled the lake for the Kaiser.
I enjoy a strong love story where America's enemies die in large quantities.

While "Saving Private Ryan" is a great flick, I think it's an anti-war Hollywood movie. Speilberg wants to show the horror of war and not much of the honor of soldiers. What do you think?

Some have already mentioned "The Great Raid" based on the book "Ghost Soldiers." True story about the largest/most successful liberation of an Allied POW comp during the retaking of the Philippines. The movie wasn't too hyped so I bought it when it came out.

Amazing feature in the post credits were that during the filming in parts of Australia, some Japanese exchange students hired to play J soldiers couldn't fathom why they shot scenes of such brutality committed against US/Commonwealth soldiers and Philippino civs.

I loved Kelly's Heroes. We got miles of play as a boy from that movie! -back when boys were allowed to play army.

Here's one: World War III (TV miniseries) with David Soul from Starsky and Hutch. Russians invade Alaska because of a grain embargo. Handful of soldiers with even less ammo hold them off...Wow.
