This is a man with some real class, and excellent conservative values. When I contact my representatives in Washington, I can always count on a prompt response from his office. Warner, not so much, Webb, almost nothing.

Also have some loose connections to him and his family (we don’t know each other on a personal basis, however):

1) A good buddy of mine from HS (he attends JMU), interned with him; his older sister works for the RNC; he was also the Young Republicans Treasurer at my HS, our senior year (2004-2005), while I was Vice Chair. In the Spring of 2005, one of our club members got him to speak to our school.

2) He invited all the district’s Young Republicans to a Christmas Party in 2004. I didn’t attend, had a family party. Funny thing is he’s Jewish (Messianic sect), and is a proud supporter of strong American-Israeli relations.

3) He grew up in my community, and went to Collegiate School, which is 5 minutes away from our house.

4) He sent his two sons to the Camp I spent 1997-2004: Camp Sea Gull (which is right across the Neuse from MCAS Cherry Point). I remember teaching his oldest son how to tie some basic knots while I was a junior counselor on the sailing staff.

He’d be missed as our congressman, but I think he’d be a great VP.
