People Stay Behind In Wake Of Mandatory Evacuation ORDER In NO

August 31st, 2008 Posted By Lftbhndagn.

This absolutely pisses me off.

Do these people who stay behind, NOT understand that by staying behind THEY are not only risking their lives but the lives of OTHERS that are going to have to go in and save their asses?

    People are idiots no
    mother nature is unforgiving
they should be arrested and moved to a holding cell outside of NO

Looks like they are around the French Quarter. That is high ground and no flooding during Katrina at all. The East Bank, New Orleans proper should receive Cat. 2 winds at best. The West Bank will take a good storm surge in outlying areas and not fair as well

Local news is showing that extent of hurricane force winds not nearly as bad as Katrina. New Orleans will be just fine, don’t listen to MSM they are stupid and just trying to get ratings up.

The areas where natural gas flows through and that service the offshore industry are going to catch hell. Expect gasoline shortages in the Eastern half of the U.S., and natural gas shortages as well.

THIS IS NO KATRINA OR RITA. It is not the big bad mother that the MSM makes it out to be. It is bad but not that bad especially for population concentration areas.

It is going to have an effect on the Henry Hub but not that bad. Henry Hub is THE MAJOR natural gas point of distribution throughout the EASTERN U.S.

Here is a very good reason to develop ANWAR and Offshore elsewhere. Having only one highly concentrated area pretty much exclusive to Louisiana (Texas, Missippi, & Alabama don’t amount to shit in comparison) means one big storm screws up the nation’s domestic supply of oil and natural gas.

FYI, it has been widely publicized that if you get caught violating mandatory evacuation (leaving your own property) you get thrown in the big house until the storm passes. That means going to Angola State Prison and get thrown in with the general population. Angola is pretty much a lifer’s only prison and one of the baddest in the U.S.

Do you or anyone else here like being told by the gov’t to get off your land or what to do with your life? I don’t need a nanny state. I have never evac’d for a hurricane, never will. Will stay on my land with my family and take my chances, guns loaded. :gun:

No Unbreakable - I DON’T. But Living here in San Diego and surviving many fires, when they tell you GO - YOU Fucking GO. NOTHING is worth risking your life, your familys life and the lives of the people that have to save your ass.

Unbreakable.. you make a good point.. BUT Then do NOT expect the government to come in and take care of you afterwords!

I am freaking tired of the nanny state but I am also sicken that the people of this country have become so damned helpless. They don’t see that standing there with their hand out waiting on Uncle Sam to pay them and take care of them is a form of slavery. They are owned. If the government is paying their way then the government will tell them exactly what to do and they have no choice. It’s the first step on the road to communism and we are down the path a ways as it is. We need to do an about face and get back to what this country is really about.

You are right, we do understand, it is well publicized down here in every interview with all local officials that when the wind reaches a certain speed, DO NOT DEPEND on government to help you out. WE ALL UNDERSTAND THAT.

If I lived in NOLA I would be staying. Especially in the FQ or Uptown area. It is really the water that you need to worry about in the city not the winds.

lftbehind clearly has not spent much time in this area. The MSM has absolutely no clue about this area of the country and overhypes everything.

Kind of like during Rita, two of the riverboat casinos cast their lines off and headed into the wind. Far better than being tied up. The two boats who stayed tied up were lost. The ones who cast off and headed into the wind had superficial damage.

We are getting NOLA TV stations broadcasting via small power local BR stations it is quite hilarious how they question anyone for riding out the storm. Bunch of Pelosi wannabes as far as I can tell.

Those of us who have hunkered down before and prepared properly don’t have that much to worry about. We know what our equipment and supplies are. We survived Cat 5 Audrey just fine in SWLA. Just not those in the low lying areas.

NOLA is not entirely a bowl. It is well above sea level along the river. But those who rely on MSM for info get it all wrong.

There are no nukes being dropped on the coast. Instead of watching socialist MSM TV, seek reality from those who have been these parts for a lifetime.

The main difference between Betsy ‘65 and Katrina ‘06 was the flooding in Mid City, Lakeview and parts of Uptown NOLA, and the liberal government installed by Moon Landrieu in New Orleans. The floodwater on the east side was exactly the same! Can’t anyone see what decades of liberal government does to harm people?

It looks like the Henry Hub is going to take a pounding. However, this is not nearly as bad a pounding as Rita gave it. That is 1.8 billion cubic feet per day of natural gas. The problem is not now but when the production platforms (erroneously referred to as rigs) get back online.

For those not familiar with the Gulf Coast during Hurricanes, quite listening to MSNBC and its ilk. This is not a bad storm for NOLA. Electricity is still being provided to large chunks of NOLA, as I type.

Just remember they are as wrong about this storm as Obama/Biden were about the surge.

If you are not familiar with this area quit the ignorant comments. I have seen several on threads.

Can’t have your cake & eat it too.

Bitch when the government didn’t help, bitch when the government tries to help; such gratitude.

Let those who stay swim it out, its their life if they didn’t learn from Katrina then they can’t be taught.

That so many of you would take the governments advice to abandon your homes baffles the hell out of me.

I mean look at it from the point of view of the people. When the man says “If you stay you wont get any help from us!” can you be surprised when folks shrug and say “so just like last time then…” and wander off?

The concept of abandoning what little I have to looters and a storm because the “government” said it would not be there to help me is madness. Be easier for me to sort it out if those fuckers are not in the way anyhow. I been all over NO, if it got to bad just wade the fuck up and out of that bitch, but leave before hand? Please…

I never claimed to want it both ways. I’ve not asked for FEMA or anyone else to come bail me out or save me and my family. That’s because saving and taking care of my family and making decisions about our well being is up to me, not fucktards like Nagin or anyone else from the gov’t. “I’m from the government and I’m here to help.” Yeah, sure.

Anyway, I don’t live in NO, I live in Pensacola, got a little breezy here, a little rain, no biggy. Ivan was our Katrina. Course, because people in our city weren’t standing around with a hand out waiting for Uncle Sugar to save us, I think we did alot better. That’s just my take.

  14. Faith of Judas

The government has no authority to order anyone from their home, for any reason. There is no such thing as an mandatory evacuation order except with declared martial law. I don’t blame people for staying. Look at what happened last time… People’s homes and businesses were raided, looted, and destroyed. I’d be sorely tempted to stay behind and protect my property. Fuck that, I WOULD stay behind.

  15. CBL

Back in ‘03 when I was living in North Carolina, everyone was calling to tell us to evacuate for Isabel, didnt go anywhere. Power was out for about 4-5 hours got very windy knocked down a lot of trees other than that no big deal. I say if they want to stay let them stay but, dont cry if shit happens.
