Real Or Fake? 747 Struck By Lightning
Looks real to me, but I found it sort of suspicious that the guy was even filming the plane…but people do that a lot, especially if friends or family are aboard. What do you think?

Nothing unusual about that at all. Just lucky to get a spectacular one like that. In my time at TWA(may she rest in peace) I witnessed and experienced many lightning strikes. The lightning dancing on the wings while trying to land through a storm was particularly memorable. Those aluminum skins are great conductors so they attract lots of strikes but the design of the aircraft ensures that it flows around the planes skin and not through vital systems.

On one hand, would the plane survive that? Probably, but wouldn’t we have heard about the emergency landing on Fox instead of break.com?
The flip side being there are lightening rods all around commercial airports, aren’t there?
Littlefox might might be able to sort it out, didn’t her hubby used to fly for the airlines?
Anyways if it’s a fake, I tip my hat to them because it’s a damn good one!

August 21st, 2008 at 4:22 pmOh yea planes get hit all the time, but whats really wicked are helo’s in storms, check around bash and see if you can find a vid of a super stallion in a storm out at sea, just the rotors along will generate enough electricity to light up Chicago

August 21st, 2008 at 8:18 pmYep. Common. I was in a Navy P-3 when it took a hit.
The other thing I’ve seen (and may be what the other posters are talking about) is St. Elmo’s Fire.
Very weird.
