Ukraine Says It Wants Western Missile Defense System Too

I see Putin getting simply livid over this…muuwahahaaaa…Don’t forget, President Yushchenko of Ukraine is the guy the Russians tried to assassinate using Dioxin in 2004. You think his loyalties could ever lie with Russia?

Ukraine says it is ready to share information from its missile warning system with Western countries.

Saturday’s announcement comes as tensions mount between Russia and the West over the conflict in neighboring Georgia.

It also comes just days after Poland and the U.S. signed a deal to set up part of a missile defense system in Poland.

Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry says the demise of a Russian-Ukrainian bilateral defense agreement allows it to make new deals with Western countries on missile warning systems and satellite tracking.

On Saturday, Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko called for talks with Russia on the Black Sea Fleet’s use of a Ukrainian port.

Mr. Yushchenko expressed concern that Russia’s use of the port Sevastopol could inadvertently drag Ukraine into Russia’s conflict with Georgia.

The Ukrainian leader signed an order Wednesday requiring Russia to seek Ukraine’s permission moving warships to and from the port. Moscow rejected the decree, describing it as “anti-Russian.”

Russia has an agreement to use the Ukrainian port until 2017, but Ukrainian officials say they want the Russian fleet to leave when the lease expires.

    Welcome Mr. Yushchenko!

Word of advice though… When the Russians attack, be smart like the Georgian President and don’t sign a French cease fire ‘agreement’ that allows Russian tanks and infantry to roam the countryside at will as long as they don’t fire.

At least not until the U.S. SecState comes to fade the heat and give assurances that it’s only for a few days.
Oh…and you get tents n stuff.

LMAO, yeah, you were so clever then, that your instructors and diplomats didn’t see that happening

BTW, can’t see that your people did better, what has achieved the nice Condi ? she took the papers and got the benefit of being recorded by the international medias

now, if Kouchner hasn’t took on himself to go and visit the ossetians refugies camps (despite of out diplomats warnings), then there wouldn’t even have been a ceased-fired at all, the Russians wouldn’t take care of the western whinnings.
It’s only because you allow some kind of “reconnaissance” that gives the impression that your ennemy also count, that things are possible.

By your standards, no, the life of the populations there are naturally nothing in regard of your high moral

Just think: Ukraine and the other SSR states GAVE BACK all of their nuclear weapons to Moscow, because they apparently thought they wouldn’t need them!!!!

If they still had a few of those old SS-18 Satans (MIRV’d with multi-megaton warweads) around, I’m certain that RasPutin would be thinking twice about doing what he’s doing now.

Ukraine has the potential to be a major ally. We should fast track a program to bring their military up to NATO standard. Starting with some PAC-2 and/or PAC-3. Start boosting their defensive abilities ASAP.

If the “Euro Pee Ons” had any stones they would gear up their military and march right to Moscow and stop this attempt to recreate the u.s.s.r.

In late July, one of Yushchenko’s allies, an anti-Russian politician of Georgian ethnicity, admitted that the dioxin poisoning caper was a fraud - that in fact he had food poisoning and illness related to this… Yushchenko turned around and blamed him for his “poisoning” - so you can stop blaming Putin for Yushchenko’s disfigurement.

This caper and Yushchenko’s reaction to its exposure as a fraud tells us a lot about what a low character he is.

As for his provocative actions, they are not supported in the Ukraine. There is very little support for Nato membership - in fact, there is more support for restoring the Soviet Union and for Ukraine to be part of that than there is for joining Nato…

As for the treaty under which the Black Sea Fleet is in the Russian-built and inhabited city of Sevastopol, it’s also under that treaty that Russia conditionally accepted Ukrainian sovereignty over that - should the treaty not be renewed, then the Russians will use this to claim the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, inhabited as it is by Russians…

    Bob,

The Germans already had a go at it.

Allot of mistakes were made after WWII, the biggest being the creation of the UN and giving all the devastated losers Veto power out of sympathy.

Bob, there isn’t yet an EU army, the army that simingly looks like an EU army is Nato, then you would have choice to make Afghanistan ? Lebanon ? Bosnia-Kosovo ? central Africa ?

which one you want to uncover ?

  14. Bob

Egfrow & Franchie your comments show your ignorance to the fact that if you combine the collective Military capabilities of all of Europe and show some resolve not to allow the scum bag Russians to run over small democracies! I’m sure Putin is counting on the collective cowardness of Europe! When will europe take responsibility for it’s own defense? The time is now not when Putin turns off your energy supply! This also applies to the “Stan” countries as well.

    Bob,

easy on the paper, but in reality you have to consider each ego nation, they still have hard time to agree on a policy, that’s taking lot of onferences, blah-blah…

IT would be easier with only UK, France and Germany, may-be Spain, Italy (and Poland ?)

But to decide it, train it give the money for it ‘ll take tame, a few more years or a decade, the geopolicy will be no more the same

though, in the link I provided, it’s on, and more now that we know that we have a powerful neighbour
