“Said It’s Too Late To Apologize … It’s Too Late”

From Drillanwr:

Last week, after Obama’s carefully scripted speech and Hollywood built stage setting, I stated on the BTR Jihadi Killer Hour that John McCain would HAVE TO pick a Veep that was NOT already in the media mix. No Romney. No Joe Lieberman. No, the lunatic MSM would be sittng in wait for men such as that. They would have stacks of files and video/audio bites to flood the TV screens with to beat down the Republican VP pick.

At that time we were hoping that pick would be Eric Cantor. But Mac pulled an Ace out of his sleeve. Actually, in hockey, I would claim he made one hell of a slap shot past the goalie (MSM) and right into the back of the net. Anybody who is an avid hockey fan knows what I mean when I say that deafening “PING” you hear when the puck goes through the goalie’s zone and into the net and rings off the metal net pole.

The primary problem with Sarah Palin the MSM has had these last few days has been she’s NOT on their shelf in a neat little file or box of vids. Hell, she ain’t even , or wasn’t, on their radar.

I went on to justify my reasoning of McCain picking such a VP that it WOULD put the lazy lame MSM off their tired old game, and they would have to get off their fat asses and actually work to investigate and report on something real, and NOT contrived. However, caught completely off guard, and acting like a spoiled child who stomps in the middle of the department store at the top of his lungs, “NO FAIR!!!” they, the predictable MSM, went EXACTLY where I knew they would … and remember, I used to be in their world … They went for the “cheap shot” … They went for the “make-believe” … They went for the “L.A. Confidential” practice of, “If there’s no ‘there’ there … make it up”. Meanwhile, grudgingly digging into this woman’s past and her career practices. They have managed to throw forth on the deck of the fishing boat some dead fish that had been tossed back into the ‘public record’ waters that amount to nothing. But THIS was more brow-sweat they broke than in the months and months of allegedly covering Obama running for POTUS in the public eye … even after major questions of real substance were put before them, and they just looked (and continue to) the other way.

So, when I woke this morning and saw the headline for this Politico piece by Roger Simon I thought, “Oh, well, MAYBE some in the MSM are coming to their senses … having a look in the mirror” … I was all ready to post the Politico piece as signs of an awakening of some in the MSM to their bad ways … But as I read I realized it was nothing more than some drunken heckler at the back of the room. They are still stinging over this pick. Still stinging over the fact she is not one of the D.C. class they can incestuously rape and court at the same time. No, she bring a whole new and fresh supply of DNA to the stagnant and mutant gene pool of the ’system’ in this country that is centered in the womb of The Swamp, and supplied impotent jizz by the scrotum of the MSM of the arrogant and clueless “cosmopolitan” class of the east and west coasts.

Simon appears to be chivalrously coming to the defense of Sarah Palin, and her family, for the assinine bullshit that was fabricated and spun for days about a tiny baby and his paternity … and then jumping on a teen-aged girl whose dignity and privacy meant nothing to them. But instead Simon twists it into a taunt of the woman who knows what is and isn’t off-limits to their yellow teeth.

Let me point something out, Mr. Simon:

Bristol Palin … Minor.

Trig Palin … Minor

Track Palin … Adult

Chelsea Clinton … WH Minor to present day Adult … and STILL off-limits, for some reason.

STFU … or here’s an idea … Do your job the way your professions forefathers meant it to be. And YES, Gov. Palin IS deserving of an apology. But I am certain she won’t be holding her breath … She knows YOU better than you know yourselves. You are in denial … She’s not.

They got NOTHING!

Why the media should apologize

By ROGER SIMON - (Politico)

ST. PAUL, Minn. — On behalf of the media, I would like to say we are sorry.

On behalf of the elite media, I would like to say we are very sorry.

We have asked questions this week that we should never have asked.

We have asked pathetic questions like: Who is Sarah Palin? What is her record? Where does she stand on the issues? And is she is qualified to be a heartbeat away from the presidency?

We have asked mean questions like: How well did John McCain know her before he selected her? How well did his campaign vet her? And was she his first choice?

Bad questions. Bad media. Bad.

It is not our job to ask questions. Or it shouldn’t be. To hear from the pols at the Republican National Convention this week, our job is to endorse and support the decisions of the pols.

Sarah Palin hit the nail on the head Wednesday night (and several in the audience wish she had hit some reporters on the head instead) when she said: “I’m not a member of the permanent political establishment. And I’ve learned quickly, these past few days, that if you’re not a member in good standing of the Washington elite, then some in the media consider a candidate unqualified for that reason alone.”

But where did we go wrong with Sarah Palin? Let me count the ways:

First, we should have stuck to the warm, human interest stuff like how she likes mooseburgers and hit an important free throw at her high school basketball tournament even though she had a stress fracture.

Second, we should have stuck to the press release stuff like how she opposed the Bridge to Nowhere (after she supported it).

Third, we should never have strayed into the other stuff. Like when The Washington Post recently wrote: “Palin is under investigation by a bipartisan state legislative body. … Palin had promised to cooperate with the legislative inquiry, but this week she hired a lawyer to fight to move the case to the jurisdiction of the state personnel board, which Palin appoints.”

Why go there? What trees does that plant?

Fourth, we should stop making with all the questions already. She gave a really good speech. And why go beyond that? As we all know, speeches cannot be written by others and rehearsed for days. They are true windows to the soul.

Unless they are delivered by Barack Obama, that is. In which case, as Palin said Wednesday, speeches are just a “cloud of rhetoric.”

Fifth, we should stop reporting on the families of the candidates. Unless the candidates want us to.

Sarah Palin wanted the media to report on her teenage son, Track, who enlisted in the Army on Sept. 11, 2007, and soon will deploy to Iraq.

Sarah Palin did not want the media to report on her teenage daughter, Bristol, who is pregnant and unmarried.

Sarah Palin thinks that one is good for her campaign and one is not, and that the media should report only on what is good for her campaign. That is our job, and that is our duty. If that is not actually in the Constitution, it should be. (And someday may be.)

The official theme of the convention’s third day was “prosperity,” but the unofficial theme was “the media are really, really awful.”

Even Mike Huckabee, who campaigned for president this year by saying “I am a conservative, but I am not mad at anybody,” discovered Wednesday night that he is mad at somebody.

“I’d like to thank the elite media for doing something,” Huckabee said, “that, quite frankly, I didn’t think could be done: unify the Republican party and all of America in support of John McCain and Sarah Palin.”

And could that be the real point of the attacks on the media? To unify the Republican Party?

No, that is simply the cynical, media view.

Though as Lily Tomlin says, “No matter how cynical I get, it’s just never enough to keep up.”

I couldn’t resist that. For which I am sorry
