NEW YORK: President Asif Ali Zardari Sunday he had no knowledge of where Osama Bin Laden was in Pakistan territory.
In an interview with an American news channel, President Zardari said: “Osama Bin Laden, and Ayman Al-Zawahiri, if arrested, will be tried in Pakistani courts. They could also be handed over to the US on friends’ advice,” he said.
The president ruled out the possibility of war between Pakistan and the US.
“Friendly fire is a normal thing even among the US soldiers,” he added.
He also said those who ‘martyred’ his wife and former prime minister Benazir Bhutto could also target him.
President Asif Ali Zardari forcefully projected Pakistan’s position on global issues and unveiled his vision in a series of meetings with top world leaders on the sidelines of the 63rd session of the United Nations General Assembly.
The president, who spoke of the grave challenges confronting Pakistan, said the new democratic government was committed to empowering the parliament.
During his six-day stay in New York, President Zardari held important meetings with President George W Bush, President Nicholas Sarkozi of France, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad of Iran President Hamid Karzai of Afghanistan, President Abdullah Gul of Turkey, Premier Wen Jiabao of China, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh of India and Prime Minister of Nepal Pushpa Kumar Dahal Prachanda.
