US Intercepts Drug-Laden Sub Off Central America
If the drug lords have them, then….
September 20, 2008
MEXICO CITY (AP) — The U.S. Coast Guard says it intercepted a submarine-like vessel carrying 7 tons of cocaine off Central America’s coast.
The Coast Guard says a U.S. Navy aircraft spotted the 60-foot vessel Wednesday about 400 miles south of the Mexico-Guatemala border.
The Coast Guard sank the vessel after determining it was too unstable to be towed to port.
The Coast Guard’s statement Friday did not say if anyone was arrested. Officials didn’t immediately return calls seeking comment.
The bust came four days after the U.S. Coast Guard and Navy seized another homemade submarine carrying 7 tons of cocaine. That craft was towed to a Coast Rican port and four Colombians on board were arrested.

So this comes in with no mention of FARC? Not even that a relationship cannot be established? Will one be pursued; is questioning going on? This is simply wilfully delinquent reporting.
Somebody needs some pretty decent funding to do this job. How about Venezuela, which has been working hand in glove with FARC; did we, can we hopefully rule in or out a connection? C’mon, what is being pursued here? Is this just happenstance, or have we been looking for these big delivery boys for quite a while to find out where big previous shipments have been coming from? WHERE IS THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THIS BUST DISCUSSED? WHEN WILL IT BE?

September 20th, 2008 at 9:17 amThe significance is this. They will use any means they can to defeat the security that we employ to get their drugs across the borders without disruption. It is far too profitable of a venture to not spend the money that it takes to defeat the security measures. What we catch is estimated to be just 20-40% of the actual shipments. This isn’t new news. There has been a war on drugs much longer than there has been a war on terror. It is far too profitable of a venture to not spend the money that it takes to defeat the security measures.
