7 Russian Soldiers Killed In Car Blast In South Ossetia

October 3rd, 2008 Posted By Bash.

A blast in Georgia’s breakaway region of South Ossetia killed seven Russian soldiers, a Russian commander says.

The deaths happened when a car full of explosives blew up near a Russian military base in the regional capital, Tskhinvali, local officials said.

Seven other soldiers were injured in the blast, the Russian military commander in South Ossetia said.

Tension remains high in the re More..gion following the conflict between Russia and Georgia over the summer.

According to a statement from the South Ossetian breakaway government, Russian troops had confiscated the vehicle that blew up from an ethnic Georgian village because it was carrying weapons.

Russian television footage showed a black plume of smoke rising from behind metal gates at the base.

An unidentified Russian foreign ministry official said forces “striving to destabilise the situation” were behind the blast, Russian media reported.

South Ossetian leader Eduard Kokoity went further, describing it as “a deliberate terrorist act prepared by the Georgian Security Ministry”, Russia’s Itar-Tass news agency said.

Georgian Interior Ministry spokesman Shota Utiashvili rejected the allegation.

“I think this is a provocation with the aim of keeping Russian forces in Georgia,” he told the AFP new agency.

kinda funny, they stole a car packed with explosives , i was watching the russian news sources and they changed the story 3 times already, first allegedly they confiscated the car at a checkpoint cuase allegedly they found some wepons in the back of a car, second version said that the car was bought from an “ethnic georgian”, who embodied evil by the way, and the third version says that apparently somebody was stealing the car from the “poor georgians” and they interfiered and took the car away from the looters..and towed it to their fuckin headquarters… whoever did it - it was excellent job indeed… why struggle with sending special forces to do some damage when they will come and get your VBIED themselves :) i guess our guys have learned a thing or two from dealing with the insurgents in iraq…but then it may have been the russian provocation as well, KGB has a knack for those type of things….anyways - fuck em, they deserved some more

Is this another excuse drummed up by the Putin-bots to justify more atrocities against the Georgians?

BTW- Good to hear from you Giorgi. You know, even when we aren’t talking about it here, Georgia and our friends are still in our prayers….and this being Dollard Nation, they are some fierce prayers indeed.

It’s good to have your input.

The story sounds fishy. Something’s not adding up. That’s not surprising since the Russians are involved. In the U.S., liberals lie just as much as the Communists. The words are almost becoming interchangeable.

Where’ve you been? We’ve been asking about you.

Thanks for sharing that Russia keeps changing its story about this incident. We should get you your own talk show. Hey, I just had an idea: why don’t you go on Pat’s radio show?

Lets hope the Georgians have some top notch American shit for filling up those Rus body bags.

    Maybe, certainly the drunkest.

also we shot down couple of their unamanned drones, the small ones that can be launched from the hand of the operator, in around Gori. those things have a limited radius so it looks like some russian KGB/GRU small recon teams are still roaming the area outside their zone of control… the black-ops are starting their covert battles on both sides. by the way how did yall like the German fold in St.Pitersburg y’day …apparently nether Georgia nor Ukraine will not get the NATO Membership Action Plan she said any time soon, Merkel that is, i wonder has Putin called them up and inquired about the weather and a cold winter if the russian gas supply will be cut off

  12. Dan(The Infidel)

WTF did Europe do before the Russian pipeline for fuel? Europe needs to wean themselves off of Cossack fuel supplies. The Czar never died…he just got drunk for awhile. Well, now he’s sober. Tell him to go fuck himself and give NATO membership to Georgia and the Ukrane.

Fucking Merkle acts more like “Erkle” if you ask me.

Giorgi, the thing is that the reports on your president aren’t quite fitting the criterium of accession, This has nothing to do with the population.

In the meanwhile, Nato isn’t what it used to be, see how it fonctions in Afghanistan, we ought to say that Nato is an ill man ; does your country want to join the alliance in Afghanistan ?

Another thing is sure is that Russia will never let Georgia or Ukraine becoming a Nato member, because of their proxiness, also because of the commun history that has given so many brillant leaders to URSS

Your country is more likely to become one of the multiple EU members, but that’s not a worry for Russia, in time she also will become an EU extension, that’s the logical alliance, that the whole christian block will need under the pression of the muslim jihadism, and may-be also chines expension

  14. dilly

Get Ukraine and Georgia in NATO and arm them to the teeht.

  15. Giorgi

frenchie i agree with you that more time passes the more incapable NATO gets. i dont want to sound hurray-patriotic or something but our presidents term will be up in 4 years, and NATO membership is not a club but a minimum of 25 years of commitment, so i dont know what the reports of our president has to do with anything 80% of the georgians favour membership in NATO rather than getting back into russian political orbit. all of our quarrells with russia has begun when they decided to use a stick rather than bread to control us after the dissolution of the USSR, and started to act like a big brother and “teach” a little kid so to speak…god damn we have 2500 year old history of having a kingdom and a longest running dynasty in europe(or asia for that mater - 1400 years) what the fuck the viking and now KGB rulled russians can teach georgians how to live properly, fuck them, they had a chance….and yes our military was ready to deploy 500-700 troops in A’stan prior to the August events. given the lack of action and to be honest i truly didnt believe that the european politicians will go as far as that, its sad that scince 2001 we were fed and given a hope for an accession (yea, after 20-30 years, sure thing) so given the perspective of the political situation our government decided to act from our own interests from now on, our military will be increased with a focus of posing serous problems for an invading russian military in the future, the reserves system will be alered to meet the realistic threats. if russia is acting in contrary of the international laws we will as well. they invade our country, they will get another high-profile military death like in this vid were - the chief overseer of the “peacekeepers” got torn to shreads.
and as far europes interest go, i believe the europeans have to beg us to get closer to them rather than the opposite of the policy displayed by our president. you want oil and gas from central asia - come and get it. why should we suffer from impotent ambitions of certain politicians. i could bring up a lot of newsletters about how the wetern politicians have persuaded us to act decisevly towards the russians claiming they will have our backs in case of something. ant we all know what resulted from this…fuck that. :gun: :gun: :gun: :gun: :gun:

Given the recent facts, I understand your reaction, now seen from my place I can project less emotion, but rather a realist view.

As far as Sarko is concerned, that was his job as the representant of the whole EU union ; in that agenda, we are the less concerned with the energy dependance towards Russia. Putin reacted “à la hussarde”, but he hasn’t the means to object a pression on EU, though it’s sure that he ‘ll regard his proxy borders. It’s the same reaction for the US, when the former URSS wanted to install missiles in Cuba, and yet may-be with Chavez, I suppose that they’ll have to react severely soon.

Your president, if he want to have a long political life, will have to turn towards EU, cause the rebellion as he envisionned it, will only bring you deceiption and casualties. Don’t get trapped in the guerilla conflict with URSS, cause you’ll end like Chechenia. Being part of the EU you’ll have more weight, and yes, some heart wounds will have to be put aside, we managed it with Germany, you can also manage it with the bear. The bear need us too, if we, the whole western world, isolate him, he’ll become like Hitler. We have to associate him, try to change his behaviour, that are reflexes of the former URSS. I undertood that they turn “capitalist”, that the people there want alo to enjoy consumerism, if we radicalise them, they’ll become the nastiest political power since WW2

    Georgi:

NATO is definitely becomming less the spear point and more the dull blade. Russia on the other hand under the Cossack/KGB Emporer Putin is looking to revive the Cold War and his failed USSR.

His coffers are stuffed with oil monies from which he can lavishly spend to build up his thugocracy.

Central Asia is too volatile to depend on for oil and gas resources. Its unfortunate that Russia is such a scumbag country. If it weren’t for them and the other jihadi scum. the whole Georgia/NATO question would have been long since moot with Georgia and the Ukraine being afforded full-fledged membership.

I wouldn’t screw the pooch just yet. Poland was under the iron fist of the USSR for many years while at the same time helping the West to undermine the Stalinists.

The one thing that the fall of the Berlin wall proved is that when people want to be free and independent; there comes a time when they have to TAKE what is rightfully theirs irrespective of what some Czar in Russia says.

Hit the Russians high, hit them low. Make them pay for every square inch of Georgian territory that they steal.
Play by their rules. And let the chips fall where they may.

Georgia doesn’t need the EU. The US has an economy stronger than 25 of the EU members combined. Fuck ‘em.

Let’s just say that there are MANY in the US and most especially in Dollard Nation that support the Georgian cause and would vote “Yes” in a heartbeat to admit Georgia to NATO.

Georgia supported us in Iraq and would do so in Afghanistan.
It’s a damned shame that Georgia is getting the raw end of the deal at this juncture.

We salute your courage and tenacity in the face of Russian hegemony and barbarism. Fuck Russia. Let there be many more VBIED’s in Russia’s future.

feeding and catoring to the russian leaderships ambition actually could produce something like hitler but with the nukes this time. hitler became that way cause of the inaction of the western powers, ah they said ,let him deal with his neighbors what we got to do with it, hes not bothering us directly isnt he…let him get a piece of suddateland from czechs (gosh didn’t the germans were also busy protecting their “citizens’ there as well!

  19. Giorgi

its also funny, if them looters are smart ehough they will think twise about stealing someones car from now on, unless they want cars blowing up in their yards killing their families…the only way to defeat russians is through economic leverages, head on attack is not a good idea :) napoleon and hitler proved it..you got to take the fortress from the inside where it hurts the most, i think if the barrel of oil hits below 70$ you can forget the long range bomber patrols and sea voyages to venezuela for a while, as well as harrasing the small countries and rebuilding the military. i studied some economics back in a day and i noticed the sharp reaction of the Russian Rouble exchange rate relative to the oil prices..their whole GDP growth is oil-based, take that out of the equation and u get russia of the mid 1990s. putin hasnt really done anything to improve the russian economy, the worldwide rising energy prices did it….up until then i think there will be some more interesting and mysterious explosions in vicinity of the russian military personnel
