“She Killed. It Was Her Evening. … 15 Minutes In, She Had Joe Biden On The Defensive On The Subject Of Obama And Taxes. … She Killed”

The Wall Street Journal’s Peggy Noonan: “She killed. It was her evening. She was the star. She had him at, ‘Nice to meet you. Hey, can I call you Joe?’ It was very interesting to me, for Palin tonight, for an hour and a half, I think America saw her for a really long time, and she became a star probably on a new level. Gwen Ifill was not there for Sarah Palin. Joe Biden was not there for Sarah Palin. Sarah Palin was there with a camera. It was classic go over the heads of the media and everybody else, talk straight to the American people. She hit every populist chord. It is amazing to me that 15 minutes in, she had Joe Biden on the defensive on the subject of Obama and taxes. … She killed.” (Video of Noonan) (NBC’s “Vice Presidential Debate Coverage,” 10/2/08)

NBC’s Tom Brokaw: “I think they’re whopping it up in Alaska tonight and all those parties across the country for the McCain campaign because I thought in terms of theatrics and personal style out there, you can see why she’s such a successful politician in Alaska. … And any question asked of her, she talked about John McCain’s tax cuts, his record as a maverick, about his determination to reform what is going on and about energy independence. She had been called, as you know, the bumper sticker is coldest state, hottest governor. You saw some of that tonight.” (NBC’s “Vice Presidential Debate Coverage,” 10/2/08)

NBC’s Chuck Todd: “Governor Palin proved very adept … In many ways, she was a better surrogate for her top of the ticket than Joe Biden was for his.” (NBC’s “Vice Presidential Debate Coverage,” 10/2/08)

MSNBC’s Chris Matthews: “I think she’s an extremely appealing politician. Her energy level was much better than Biden’s. I think Biden lost a little speed there during the evening. I think she came across terrific in terms of presentation.” (MSNBC’s “Vice Presidential Debate,” 10/2/08)

“Sarah Palin Was Sensational Tonight … I Think She Wiped Up The Floor With Joe Biden”

2008_10_02t222202_330×450_us_usa_politics1.jpg

The Associated Press’ Jim Kuhnhenn: “Under intense scrutiny, Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin stood her ground Thursday night against a vastly more experienced Joe Biden, debating the economy, energy and global warming, then challenging him on Iraq, ‘especially with your son in the National Guard.’” (Jim Kuhnhenn, “Palin Stands Her Ground In VP Debate With Biden,” The Associated Press, 10/2/08)

· Kuhnhenn: “The Alaska governor also noted that Biden had once said Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama wasn’t ready to be commander in chief, ‘and I know again that you opposed the move that he made to try to cut off funding for the troops and I respect you for that.’” (Jim Kuhnhenn, “Palin Stands Her Ground In VP Debate With Biden,” The Associated Press, 10/2/08)

2008_10_02t214409_331×450_us_usa_politics1.jpg

MSNBC’s Pat Buchanan: “My take is Sarah Palin was sensational tonight. She not only met the expectations, I think she wiped up the floor with Joe Biden, quite frankly. She is personable, she is young, she’s got a sense of humor…I think that she has done a sensational job and I think she as recaptured that magic she had out there at the convention.” (MSNBC’s “Countdown With Keith Olbermann,” 10/2/08)

2008_10_02t212301_376×450_us_usa_politics1.jpg

The Hill’s Walter Alarkon: “One theme Palin keeps hitting tonight is the idea that Biden and Obama are looking backward. After a riff by Biden on how McCain’s policies are the same as President Bush’s, Palin pounces. ‘Say it ain’t so, Joe,’ she said. ‘There you go again, pointing backwards. Now doggone it, let’s look again and tell Americans what we plan to do for Americans in the future.’” (Walter Alarkon, “Liveblog: The Veep Debate” The Hill’s “Briefing Room” Blog, briefingroom.thehill.com, 10/2/08)

2008_10_02t205606_450×335_us_usa_politics1.jpg

ABC’s Rick Klein: “We knew this was coming — attacking Obama by using Biden’s own words. And the rest of the answer — ‘we’re getting closer and closer to victory, and it would be a travesty’ to quit now — was very well put. ‘Your plan is a white flag of surrender in Iraq,’ she said.” (Rick Klein, “Live Debate” Blog, blogs.abcnews.com, 10/2/08)

The New York Times’ Peter Baker: “If the debate was the defining test this fall of Sarah Palin, she emerged from it largely unscathed.” (Peter Baker, “Live Blog: St. Louis Showdown,” The New York Times’ “The Caucus” Blog, thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com, 10/2/08)

· Baker: “[S]he came across as a forceful, articulate and well-prepared candidate, able to go toe to toe with an opponent who has been debating on the floor of the United States Senate for the past 36 years. … she never stumbled in response to any “gotcha” questions… (Peter Baker, “Live20Blog: St. Louis Showdown,” The New York Times’ “The Caucus” Blog, thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com, 10/2/08)

captcpsntx14031008095458photo03photodefault-512×340.jpg

· Baker: “But she was aggressive and kept on the offense. Mr. Biden never seemed to rattle her. To be sure, he had some strong moments, but she had a parry for every thrust…” (Peter Baker, “Live Blog: St. Louis Showdown,” The New York Times’ “The Caucus” Blog, thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com, 10/2/08)

“I Wanted My Granddaughters To Be Able To Look At This Debate … I Wanted Them To Look At This Debate And See That A Woman Could Go Toe To Toe With Someone Who Has Had Tremendous Experience”

1984 Democrat Vice Presidential Nominee Geraldine Ferraro: “I really wanted her to get up there and do a good job, and I think she did. … I think it was a good evening for — certainly for Governor Palin. … I think she showed she is certainly capable of going toe to toe with a man who is more than qualified to be vice president, if not president of the United States.” (NBC’s “Vice Pres idential Debate Coverage,” 10/2/08)

captd2e7fa920f1b44c1b911afbc178d70b4mccain_palin_2008_moke108.jpg

· Ferraro: “The thing about it is she held her own, and that for me, from a historic viewpoint, I wanted my granddaughters to be able to look at this debate — I hope they’re in bed right now. I wanted them to look at this debate and see that a woman could go toe to toe with someone who has had tremendous experience in the Senate and someone who is an incredible candidate for vice president of the United States. That to me is very very important.” (NBC’s “Vice Presidential Debate Coverage,” 10/2/08)

ABC’s Diane Sawyer: “On the first go, you’re right, I thought that Governor Palin, after a bruising time in the media, showed up not just with confidence, but cheerful confidence that might surprise a lot of people, talking about her personal issues …” (ABC’s “Vice Presidential Debate,” 10/2/08)

CNN’s David Gergen: “She was spirited, she came out well, she came out strong.” (CNN’s “Debate Coverage,” 10/2/08)

The Atlantic’s Marc Ambinder: “She was most effective when she argued against Barack Obama …” (Marc Ambinder, “Palin-Biden: First Take,” The Atlantic’s “Marc Ambinder” Blog, marcambinder.theatlantic.com, 10/2/08)

The New York Times’ Bill Kristol: “It was match point against Sarah Palin and she won the set and she kept the race alive.” (Bill Kristol, Fox, On The Record, 10/2/08)

capt803c349640f14772a8b9a37846f316c6mccain_palin_2008_moke106.jpg

National Review’s Ramesh Ponnuru: “Biden had a good start, but Palin was ex ceptionally strong.” (Ramesh Ponnuru, “The Opening,” National Review’s “The Corner” Blog, corner.nationalreview.com, 10/2/08)

CNN’s Bill Schneider: “Palin is going after Biden over his comments that the wealthy should pay more taxes as a patriotic move. The Alaska governor has come to this debate fully armed.” (Bill Schneider, “Attack, Counter Attack,” CNN’s “Political Ticker” Blog, politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com, 10/2/08)

CNN’s Bill Schneider: “Palin’s primary strength is her outside of Washington status. She doesn’t act like an insider, she doesn’t talk like an insider, and a lot of voters may respond to that.” (Bill Schneider, “Palin’s Strengths,” CNN’s “Political Ticker” Blog, politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com, 10/2/08)

The Weekly Standard’s Fred Barnes: “The moment in this debate when she knew how well she was doing, and was actually winning the debate came at 9:55 eastern daylight time and she said to Gwen Ifill the moderator, “can we talk about Pakistan, or rather can we talk about Afghanistan for a minute?”. In other words she wanted to go back to one of these foreign policy issues. She knew that she passed the test that she could handle Joe Biden, and it was all about her as Mort said, and Bill said. This was not a debate where Joe Biden had to do much of anything, it was entirely a test of Sarah Palin, and she passed it.” (Fred Barnes, Fox, On The Record, 10/2/08)

I noticed that former beauty queen Diane Sawyer was stingy in her compliments of Palin. The truth is, the liberal Hollywood actresses and media pundits are in competition with Palin. They spend thousands on hairdressers, makeup artists and physical trainers, and here’s a middle-class mom from a frontier state without those accoutrements, and she outshines them all.

I can´t get enough of this woman. She´s all W.O.M.A.N.

To bad its the only debate. MSM must have wanted it that way.

  4. Mike Mose

Palin would kill Obama in a debate. She made Biden look like a rookie.

Photos of the celebration after the debate, with a really cool one of Palin.

Sarah is my next-door-neighbor! She is everybodies next-door-neighbor! We are fed up, she and I . . . and our next-door-neighbor is going to Washington to do something about it!

Say It Is So, Sarah! If you say it, I believe it.

  7. Kermit

I watched Ferraro’s comments reading the text cannot come close to conveying how much she likes Palin. It was even close to the tone of Matthews on Obama. While she said the right words to appease the DNC, it was obvious that Palin had eased her fears and the she will vote McCain/Palin.

  8. Pete

I agree mike she would kill barry in a debate. I think McCain was watching and learned allot last night.

  9. sierrahome

    “She’s all that”

  10. Steve

McCain should arrange for his plane to break down or something and conveniently have Palin in the neighborhood for one of the 2 remaining debates. She could go toe to toe with Obama and really show the country something. Not to mention it would throw Obama off message.

  11. CymKnowlton

    Okay,

Biden came off as a drunk in a bar at last call trying to pick up the hottest woman in the place.

Unofficial rumor: he really did puke after it was over, not that he didnt puke while the debate was going on.

  12. 19Delta

I only hoped that was enough to make a difference.

  13. Kurt(the McCain/Palin infidel)

she would destroy Obama in a debate. destroy him. i was pretty nervous before it started last night, joe biden is known to be a great debater and well she really showed herself to be a force to reckon with. i hope it was enough too but i think it was. we REALLY needed that. my prediction is the new polls will show a 2 or 3 point swing in McCain/Palins favor in the next couple of days

  14. dad3-7

i listened to keith doberman for a few seconds.. he absolutely ripped her… that guy is as evil as soros…i will not buy any products that sponsors his venom and hate…

Rumor has it after last nights debate, Obama is readying his stormtroopers and bloviating plugs Biden is having his ego massaged by Helen Thomas.

Sarah appealed to real America, intelligent, respectful, sure and confident in her own abilities and of the plan the McCain/Palin ticket has to lead the nation. Biden on the other hand showed himself to be a politically entrenched Beltway figure, embellishing both his and Obama’s records while lacking a true grasp of facts and absent of any forward-looking solutions that could be construed as believable.

That this one amazing woman could upstage Biden on the same stage in front of a national audience with such grace and confidence can only be praised. She IS American exceptionalism, she embodies everything that is great about the USA and by virtue also everything the enemies of freedom and liberty every where despise and fear.

God Bless you Sarah, your family, the troops and the USA.

  16. SOC

My hope is restored. I hope Obama and Michelle were watching.
    I hope he choked.

  17. Trialdog

Yes, Gov. Palin has the style and grace Obama and Biden can only hope to ever achieve. More importantly, she beat him bloody on substance. Biden, the man who is supposed to bring foreign policy credentials to the Obama campaign, stumbled and proved incapable af even talking about Lebanon, Syria, and Hezbolla. Biden seemed resigned to allow Iran to get and obtain nuclear weapons. Yes, our press acknowledged Palin did well. It’s all they could do. But they only make the acknowledgement in terms of style. If Palin responded to questions as Biden did, with vacuous half truths, outright misrepresentations, and bumbling incompetence, they would have attacked her ruthlessly. Hell, they’d still be doing their “reality checks” in which the DNC narrative is played off some statement she made. However, her substantive answers and statements were rock solid factual and impregnable against the fabricated DNC narrative Obama uses and the MSM will not challenge or investigate. So, they won’t go there. They’ll just say she had style and “held her ground.” This way, they don’t have to admit the deceit that is the essence of the Obama-Biden campaign. This independent, proud, accomplished woman kicked Biden’s ass mercilessly. It shocked Biden. It shocked the MSM. It doesn’t fit their template. They don’t know what to say and they’ll stop talking about it soon. Good God, how can a rube with middle America common sense values come onto the national stage and make an East Coast liberal insider look like a fool? This is just so unacceptable. She doesn’t even read the New York Times everyday. We must vote for this ticket if for no other reason than to enjoy the spectacle of the liberal media nutjobs going even more insane. Sarahcuda!!

  18. randy in fl

I am so happy that Sarah hit it out of the ball park. While I think Biden is an experienced Senator and is considered a very good debater…I think he had his balls handed to him in a way he or Barry did not see coming.

Sarah represents the heart of America familys. She is not a wealthy senator sucking up a salary who has lost their focus being in Washington for so long.

With McCain being so determined to reform Washington and the people getting out the same ole people next congressional election, we may see some new blood on capitol hill that will really lookout for the working class of America…..

Their is absolutely no question Where Sara is coming from.

My Hat is off to her and John McCain.

  19. Digdug

Mike I thought about this while the debate was going on.
I would give anything to see her debate obamy. She would kick it.

Also, not trying to over think this..but when Ifil asked questions to Biden, I would swear he was looking down at answers on his sheet, it seemed he answered very quickly. I know he is an experienced (master) de-bater

  20. Q_Mech

I’m laughing at the NYT comment - “she emerged unscathed”. LOL!

There’s no way that unprofessional rag is about to actually say something nice about her and her performance. That’s the absolute ceiling-level, begrudging non-compliment that they could force themselves to give her - and they had to say it! It’s like hearing them cry uncle. I’m loving it.

    I missed the intro line
‘Nice to meet you. Hey, can I call you Joe?’

What a way to start, in your face with that shit from the magic negro addressing Senator McCain as ‘John’ during the last debate.

I wonder how many missed it like I did. Did Joe? Did that fucking piece of shit obama get it? that disrespectful little bitch. The more I see of that fucker the deeper my rage is growing.

Actually I think cracking a couple of beers with Biden would be a hoot, but then I would break the bottles and address the top of the ticket.

  23. DC

I was a bit peeved, but not surprised, at the MSM after the debate last nite for not having even the slightest thing to say, positive or negative, about gov Palin beating up the Master-debater……………

Maybe they were too speechless to spout their typical leftist drivel and hatred for her.

One reason the debate was so riveting was because Obama wasn’t there to interrupt anybody. I couldn’t believe how Obama kept interrupting McCain during their debate.

  29. Real America

Thanks for posting this information. I’m glad Sarah got kudos for a successful debate. BUT I could care less what the MSM thinks or says. They’ve shown their true colors.

Is it wrong of me that to think that it would be entertaining to have a game show like The Running Man where any traitor to this country would be a contestant?

I’ll be glad when the so-called counter culture spends so much time with their prescriptions and adults diapers that they can’t meddle in our country affairs any more.
