Bruce “The Boss†Springsteen to rally for Sen. Barack Obama in Philly on Saturday — for a last minute push to register rockers, young and old to vote.
The concert takes place this Saturday and voter registration deadline is the following Monday.
From the Obama campaign:
“Senator Obama is a great fan of Bruce Springsteen and is honored to have his support. This will be a great opportunity to gather tens of thousands of our supporters together in one place as we register new voters and bring new volunteers into this campaign for change,†said Craig Schirmer, the Pennsylvania State Director of the Obama-Biden campaign.
Team Obama had already doubled the amount of registered Democrats in Pennsylvania that were on hand for the Bush-Kerry duel in 2004, Kerry beat goal by nearly 150,000 votes down from Gore’s numbers which were over 200,000.
The Jersey native endorsed Obama in the spring.
The concert will take place on Saturday, at Benjamin Franklin Parkway between 20th and 22nd Streets.
Gates open at 2:00 p.m. and the program will begin at 3:30 p.m.
The Obama campaign says if you sign up to volunteer for Team Obama you will get better viewing and preferred tickets.
