Hollywood A-listers spend big bucks to fund inauguration

I spent some time today looking at the list of donors to the Presidential Inaugural Committee and noticed that many Hollywood A-listers have been contributing big money to help pay for Barack Obama’s big day next month.

Among the list of donors: Halle Berry, Jamie Foxx, Steven and Kate Spielberg, Berry Gordy, Tom Hanks, Jeffrey and Marilyn Katzenberg, Sharon Stone and Robert and Leslie Zemeckis, who dished out $50,000 each.

Other big spenders included: Magic Johnson whole doled out $25,000, and Christopher Guest, the comedian, who also contributed $25,000.

In case you’re wondering, the money will be used to cover events associated with the inauguration (i.e. parties) but will not cover the actual ceremony itself which is paid for, well, by you.

Oh, and if you’re wondering why so many celebs only donated $50,000, that’s because PIC is not accepting individual contributions in excess of that amount.

And yes, I think it’s safe to say you’ll probably see these Hollywood-types in the nation’s capital on the 20th.
