PLACENTIA — A woman was arrested in Placentia Tuesday after allegedly stabbing three women in a dispute sparked by a “break-up” between two 12-year-olds, according to police.
Some of the children at Whitten Community Center, located at 900 S. Melrose St., were apparently making comments about Diana Rodriguez’s son and his recent “break-up” from his 12-year-old “girlfriend.”
When Rodriguez, 32, arrived at the day care center around 2:40 p.m., three women related to the girl reportedly confronted her, and a fight broke out.
Rodriguez produced a knife with a four-inch serrated blade and stabbed the three women, according to Placentia police Sgt. Ken Alexander.
Two of the victims were taken to UCI Medical Center. One of them was stabbed four times and the other twice, Alexander said. The other victim, who was stabbed in the leg, was taken to Placentia-Linda Hospital.
All three women were expected to survive.
Prosecutors are expected to file charges against Rodriguez sometime Wednesday. She could be charged with attempted murder at most and assault with a deadly weapon at a mimimum.
Rodriguez was being held in lieu of $75,000 bail.
