Obama Bids Farewell to ‘Toot’ on Hawaiian Shore

BARACK Obama has paid his last respects to the beloved gran who raised him  scattering her ashes at a seaside beauty spot.
The US president-elect wore a garland and went barefoot as he said farewell to Madelyn Dunham.
She died of cancer aged 86 two days before his historic election victory last month.
Obama hugged relatives including half-sister Maya Soetoro-Ng at Lanai Lookout on Oahu, Hawaii, after a memorial service on Tuesday.
It was the same spot where he scattered mum Ann Dunham’s ashes 13 years ago.
Madelyn  nicknamed Toot  looked after Obama for years while Ann lived abroad.

Ask some of the Native Hawaiian elders how the year has been since their “native son,†as some press are calling Obama, returned to Oahu for a vacation.
Obama recently disposed of his maternal grandmother’s ashes on Oahu and some media are reporting that he’s very knowledgeable about Native Hawaiian traditions. However, the ceremony was performed illegally. Obama stood on dry land and poured the ashes into the sea when he should have traveled three miles away from shore.
Native Hawaiians usually take a canoe out into the ocean to dispose of ashes and wash the boat off before they beach it again. Plus, Obama may have been wearing a “maile†garland, which is considered an insult to some Hawaiians because it has great cultural significance…and as we all know, the president-elect has no Hawaiian ancestry.
