PESHAWAR, Pakistan (AP) - An association of Pakistani transport firms says its members are refusing to haul supplies to NATO and U.S. forces in Afghanistan because of mounting attacks along the route.

Shakirullah Afridi said members have been using 3,500 vehicles to haul supplies through the Khyber Pass to the Afghan border. Afridi is the president of the Khyber Transport Union.

Afridi said Monday that transporters have switched all those vehicles to other routes because of poor security and were not willing to resume hauling military supplies.

There has been a spate of attacks on routes through Pakistan that carry up to 75 percent of the military supplies to Afghanistan.
