Given that AZ Patriot’s comment of last night is more or less an accurate summary of the state of things for us all, what is the better part of hope for a better year, amongst any of you who possess it? Can hope ever stand alone, or must it’s bearer also inhabit it, thereby becoming a part of it, defining it in part with everything the bearer is, and does?

Happy New Year all! or is it? I write this @ 00:16 Am Jan 1st 2009, I can here small arms fire erupting all around, some pistols to the east a large rifle to the west. I can hear the distinct sound of 7.62×39 just to the south with a few fireworks mixed in here and there. The dogs are all in the room with me listening to the sounds outside and my wife is getting the bed ready though I’ll more than likely be up for awhile longer. I have to say this is such a surreal feeling, it doesn’t feel like a “Happy New Year”, it feels more like “By the pricking of my thumbs, something wicked this way comes”.

People say that they have felt the hair stand up on the back of their neck, that’s how all of the hair on my head feels right now, it feels …. electric, on pins and needles. I feel as though I could simply reach out my hand, touch it to wood and it would burst into flames.

I look out the window and outside it reminds me of Frank Miller’s Sin City, some things are in color but mostly everything is in black and white, it’s hard to describe, this phrase in Latin repeats in my head Liberate Vos Ex Inferis …… Save yourselves from Hell.

I’m going to have one last glass of wine and then retire, I wish everyone here at Dollard nation a safe Jan 1st 2009 or crap loads of ammo whichever works best for you.

Blago eyes 2016 presidential run

The 79-page criminal complaint against Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich is filled with vulgar remarks and jaw-dropping revelations related to his alleged attempt to sell President-elect Barack Obama’s Senate seat.

But overlooked amid the spectacle is this bizarre gem, buried deep within the document: Blagojevich toyed with the idea of appointing himself to fill Obama’s seat to “remake his image in consideration of a possible run for President in 2016.”

He’d viewed himself as a presidential contender after winning the governorship in 2002, but much had transpired since then. He had an undistinguished first term, limped to re-election in a solidly Democratic state against a weak field, alienated much of the legislature and was well aware the feds were closing in on his administration on corruption issues unrelated to the Senate seat.

In other words, Blagojevich had done almost everything imaginable to eliminate his viability as a presidential candidate. Talk about sunny optimism.
