Back in October, The Washington Times reported on allegations of an ominous and potentially dangerous atmosphere of hostility and intolerance for campus Conservatives, free speech, and apparently now, Christianity, by the George Washington University chapter of the national College Democrats organization. Here’s an excerpt from the article:
“College conservatives say the excitement of a historic presidential election which could send the first black American to the White House has become clouded by an atmosphere of intimidation and hostility on campus.
“People on campus who say they’re the most tolerant, they simply do not walk the walk,” said Brand Kroeger, chairman of the George Washington University College Republicans and head of the D.C. Federation of College Republicans.
Mr. Kroeger said he has been flooded with calls from students who feel they cannot express their views in favor of Republicans for fear of being shouted down….
GW College Democrats President Cory Struble was accused of sanctioning harassment of Republican and conservative students with comments he made at the beginning of the semester WRGW Radio.
According to an audio file provided by Mr. Struble, he said, “We seek to marginalize them as much as possible. You remember YAF last year put an ad in the paper saying how marginalized they felt [at GW]. Well, this year we want to make sure that GW is an even more uncomfortable environment for Republicans and conservatives…”
Today’s story is breaking and developing. Here are the initial details as revealed to me by two confidential sources within the College Republicans. I have no official statement or comment yet from the organization.
The College Republicans were in possession of a number of crucifixes used in a University-sanctioned Right To Life display. When the display was taken down, they were stored in the College Repulicans’ side of their shared but divided office space with the College Democrats. When the last College Republican members left the offices this last Friday, January 23, the crucifixes were safely stored on their side of the suite.
This Monday afternoon, January 27, when the first College Republicans to re-enter the offices did so, they discovered some of the horrifically desecrated crucifixes, stolen from the private property confines of their storage containers, and proudly displayed on the College Democrats’ bulletin board, and other areas, including a bowl, laid out as if they were candy for any member of the public who visited the office to take home and enjoy. One crucifix featured the College Democrats’ version of Christ: a large penis with an actual condom pulled over the top, in lieu of His crown of thorns.
Apparently, GW College Democrats feel Jesus is someone who needs to be conquered, and his suffering on the cross is to be laughed at. The top caption is “Pwned”, internet slang for “owned” or “defeated”. At his crucified feet is LOL - internet slang for “Laugh Out Loud”
More were discovered and retrieved on Tuesday.
Shockingly, according to the College Democrats’ work schedule, Executive Board members of the organization were on duty in the offices before the College Republicans’ arrival. It would appear that the Executive Board members either perpetrated the hate crime, or did nothing to stop it, including at least removing the assaulted sacred symbols, even if the crime had been perpetrated by junior members of the organization without their knowledge.
The crucifixes have been retrieved and delicately handled in order to preserve their evidentiary integrity for investigation by the appropriate authorities.
“The College Democrats, for whatever reason have been unable to contain themselves this year…earlier in the year they spoke of wanting to wipe conservatism from the campus, later defaced posters of Ronald Reagan and George W Bush and now frequently fail to show courtesy to the organization in the wake of the election. Their latest move is by far the most egregious and outrageous offense. While we doubt these acts were perpetrated by the College Democrats executive board themselves, it was left on their wall for over an entire day, where on average, there anywhere between 3 to 5 College Democrat officers in the office throughout the day…I believe it was put up on the wall and showed off.”

I have the fullest confidence that the university administration, university police and any law enforcement agencies with jurisidiction, who clearly must become involved, will guarantee the fair and equal application of all relevant laws of theft, vandalism and hate crime, treating the assault on these religious objects precisely as they would if they were Korans, Menorahs, etc.

My first impression of the objects in the photos was that some brain dead teenagers were getting out of hand. I always trust first impressions. The immaturity reflected in the phrases “pwnd” and “lol” are from gamespeak among the skulls full of mush that populate the cyber world of online gaming. I am a current student at GW for their engineering program. Luckily, I haven’t personally run into much politics in classes here, but outside of class it is inevitable. Both my roommate and I are republican, and it sickens us to see this stuff. That is why we don’t take their shit. We constantly wear Nobama shirts and the like, and because they are such spineless pricks, they won’t approach me because I am a big dude. I will definitely be sending off emails to President Knapp, along with other higher ranking administration figures.

2. Since they definately believe in Darwin … let’s pretend Darwin was correct … BUT … at that point, how do they know that evolution was not God’s will? How do they know that the evolution of man was not simply Day 6 of creation? The bible never defined how long a day was to God and I don’t believe it delved too deeply into the details of how the heavens, earth and the adult human form was created … at least not that I can recall. It could also explain why there is so much evil in this world, maybe it is still Day 7 and God is resting.

The dilution of the constitution has all but wiped out the ideology of a free government by the people and for the people. I am not afraid to stand alone and die alone. What good is it to live if living is under another’s will.
Beware world I now stand my ground! Do not trespass! I will defend my conceived rights and freedoms with all means available to me. I now understand the burden our revolutionary brothers and sisters bore. I will now take up that burden again and live or die for it!

GWCRs usually get along with GWCDs. Either way, whoever did this (and yes, they are crucifixes) should be expelled from the university: just as the student who drew swastikas on dorm room doors last year was.
As for equal treatment: when a perceived threat was made against muslims last year, it was front page news on the student paper, breaking alerts sent out, UPD mobilized. When the swastika incident occurred, the same happened.

Last semester I had a chick in my class tell me that she was going to slash my tires because I disagreed with the professor on global warming. It wasn’t even a rude or harsh disagreement.
Nothing surprises me anymore other than the fact that we continue to allow this to happen. Don’t take this the wrong way because I am not speaking of anyone on this website but, I am so sick and tired of conservatives seeing something like this and running to their computers to vent. I want to see some damn action.
I have mostly avoided confrontation in school due to the fact that I was punished by a professor for my conservative beliefs. I have a 3.8 GPA (would have been 3.92 except for the dickhead professor that I had for philosophy). Anyway, as of last Fall, I am no longer hiding in the shadows hoping someone else fights the fight for me. I confront my lib teachers and am more than willing to fight for what I believe in.

Violence is not to be feared. Violence is a tool used to conquer one’s enemies. Either violence of action or violence of deed (think hostile takeover of a corporation), both can be equally disturbing to the unwashed, but both can be equally manipulated to one’s favor.
Violence is also a very needed aspect of civilization, as no civilization has ever survived more than a few years without perpetuating violence of some form or fashion to stabilize itself.
When someone threatens, “I’m gonna kick your ass.” My response isn’t fear. My response is simple. A subtle grin followed by, “Prove it.” For I am of the mind that one must either do what one says one will do, or one is nothing more than a bag of shit smelling air. I will also resist getting my ass kicked in every way possible, which 90% of the violence threatening idiots are hardly prepared for. It is the man who says nothing that one should fear, for he will wait until it is time to stop talking and commit to action.
Violence against one’s religion should lead to a violent counter, right? That is, after all, what we are fighting against in foreign lands according to these idiots. So what is the difference between the “innocent” fighters trying to save their religion and us? The difference as you well know, is the fact that we are truly fighting for the beliefs we hold dear, while they are simply corrupting a religion to serve their personal goals. Many honest Muslims have said so themselves. An honest liberal, while almost impossible to find, would have to agree that if he or she felt Muslims were simply fighting for survival, then so are the Christians.
I say the time is right for violence in action. One way or the other. These pukes need to learn that there are consequences to actions such as these. They either need to put up, or shut up. Funny, but that phrase comes directly from a statement made earlier in this very post. They should stop talking shit and commence beating if they are such the badasses. It won’t happen, they are well aware that they will bleed and bruise. Why? They’ve spent their whole lives as whiners getting what they want, from the bag of skittles that mommy was force to buy or break their necks, to “equality” through dragging everyone else down to their level instead of working hard to step up and be someone other than a human leach.

Though Jesus will not need my help, and I’ll be glad to let Him handle the sacrilege because I’ll assure you He won’t be mocked, this has been my experience with many Democrats and virtually all lefty Dimocrats the last 10 years.
Deep down, they are cowards. You’ll note they always do this in secrecy, or in the dark, or at night, or some place where they greatly outnumber the opposition, and then mostly confrontation with women.

Why are we having this fight on our home soil? I personally think it is a freedom of speech issue. What I mean is pencil arm tit babies think they can say anything to anyone @ anytime, anywhere mostly because of parental failings. I finished college at a later state of life, thans to my fathers service in Korea! People which never experience resistance, have no perception of boundaries. Like raising children, they need to know their is a consequence to their actions, be it good or bad. These students are obviously being poorly served by their university. In an atmosphere where truth and reason are held up as ideals — the very goals of the university — such behavior would not occur . . . at least not as often as it does at American colleges. Intellectually insular dogmatism is what these students get, and they react similarly without reason to the infidels who dare to dissent from the official teaching. Pranks are so much easier than arguments.
Has not the day arrived again that the lie is accepted as truth? Evil as good? If so, retribution will not be far behind, and we will witness the fall of the new Roman Empire. It is sad, indeed, that we have turned our backs on the one true hope for peace in order to worship man in all his depravity. It will not last, because when man begins to worship himself instead of God, he will fall. The only questions remaining are the extent and duration of our “suffering” before we are again freed, and how many more will die in order to secure our freedom. Is it a coincidence that Jesus told us we would be separated left from right (Matthew 25) and that we have chosen to describe ourselves that way? The University learned this morning of an incident wherein several small crosses were defaced and posted to a bulletin board in the office shared by the GW College Democrats and the College Republicans. Upon learning of the incident, University Police immediately initiated an investigation.
So far, one student, who is a member of the GW College Democrats, has admitted responsibility and will face disciplinary action under the Code of Student Conduct. Any violations of University policies that occurred in connection with the incident will be handled through the Student Judicial Services process. The investigation continues.
President Steven Knapp said, “Such acts are unacceptable and are utterly incompatible with the spirit of mutual respect that is essential to the life of an academic community. I continue to hope and expect that all our students, no matter what opinions they hold, will conduct themselves in the spirit of mutual respect that has long been a hallmark of this University.”

This is why I think the voting age should be 21+. At least these students would have more life experience by then. Education is obviously so poor in this country that even rich college kids can be socially illiterate. I don’t understand why so many college professors are liberal. I had to sit through ridiculous English and History classes that only taught the subject incidentally, between liberal rants. Stop hiring these people who are only going to teach liberal dogma!

Just spoke to a guy in the Dean of Students office. He says one student who is a member of the College Dems has admitted responsibility. They are handling the issue through the Student judicial body which can mete out anything from a letter of Censure to Expulsion.
It will be interesting to see at which end of the spectrum punishment falls.

It’s not defacement of a religious symbol. Earlier this week, Antonin Scalia proclaimed that crosses were a secular symbol.
I hate to be insensitive but this is no more of a hate crime than flag burning (which is legal under the first amendment). Although desecrating crosses is grotesque, it is not a hate crime.
