Hey Steve. Hard to argue with your essay-but I have a suggestion none the less. I hope you will spend far less time bashing the Left's hopelessly inadequate political and economic philosophies-pointing them out has done very little good for the last 20 years, after all.We won't convert many of them. Begin preaching to the ever-corrupt Right whom have shamefully squandered EVERY opportunity to create a world Galt might want to live in. Too many conservatives tolerate third-rate policy and behavior from the Republicans--I mean MIKE PENCE? Give me a break!-- Essays like this one often seem to presume the unenlightened Left has prevented us from building Galt's World. WRONG, with all due respect: It is the Right who deserts our cause once elected ( in a rather unflattering example of a basic weakness in Objectivism: the conservative politicians act in THEIR OWN interest-no altruism by God!- not yours or mine--how's that for a little weird twist on Objectivism? Rand didn't think of that?). The barriers and hurdles to a sensible economic order are NOT the Barak Obamas or those who support them. They will always be with us. Cyclically, we get our shots ( and we will get more in the fullness of time) on the Right. Ayn Rand is part of the problem: The Right, once elected, cannot be altrusitic for the good of the country. We muff it every time. Shame on Newt, W, Mitch McConnell and everybody else.Despite all the wisdom in Atlas Shrugged-society needs some to act in the interest of others: The Republicans. All the best-Biff Robillard
