It's so sad to have passed away so young. My prayer's go out to her family. May she rest in peace.

This sounds like what is called, 'gas gangrene', or 'necrotizing fascitis'. I have seen two cases here in the US. It is a horrifying disease process. One case involved a young mother who had had liposuction at an across the border clinic (I'm in San Diego) she was concerned her husband was unhappy after she had a baby. She presented to the ER conscious and vocalizing her concern after her surgical wounds did not heal. Her legs were mottled bilaterally and were visibly worsening. Within a few minutes she was loosing consciousness and the infection line had reached her umbilical region. The skin was purple and appeared like a plumb. It split when pressure was applied. She was rushed to the OR where the entire infected area was debrided, actually skeletonized. She expired a day later, in the ICU after massive antibiotic therapy failed to arrest the infection. The second case was a middle aged man who left a spider 9or some insect) bite go untreated on one of his feet. The hospital course was similar, as was the result.

"Aren’t news stories supposed to answer 4 questions (who, what, when, where and how)."

Nope, "news" in the 21st century is meant to entertain & control public opinion, not to actually report facts or unbiased stories.

You must be doing research about Edward Murrows.

 Lft, Jenny -

Based on other reading I have done, the Septis developed due to another bacteria "pseudomonas aeruginosa", which caused the urinary tract infection she had. She had been initially misdiagnosed with kidney stones. I just wonder if they had properly diagnosed her, if this could have been avoided.

The Septis stopped the blood flow to the extremities and lead to the amputations due to tissue death. I guess she had a really rare blood type and they then had to remove part of her stomach later. It was just a downward spiral after that.

Aren't news stories supposed to answer 4 questions (who, what, when, where and how). This article answers who and when. Barely answers what and doesn't even attempt to answer how (IMO, the most important one). The journalistic equivalent of junk food, tastes good, feels good and contains no nutritional elements.

Hands & Feet? Could it be she fell victim of a bad manicure & pedicure from a place that did not properly clean their instruments? Flesh eating bacteria?
