Outcry Over ‘Hero Of Hudson’ Game

Web-users have been given the chance to become the ‘Hero of the Hudson’ - but some have branded the online game as “offensive”.
US Airways pilot Chesley ‘Sully’ Sullenberger’s heroic splash landing into the River Hudson earlier this month saved dozens of lives and was heralded as a miracle.
Now a team of developers has created an online video game that lets users try their hand at his landing.
The game is set on the approach to the River Hudson, alongside New York’s Manhattan Island where the plane touched down in icy waters.
Players have to keep the plane balanced at the correct incline and bring it to a smooth landing on the water.
Failing could mean putting the lives of virtual passengers at risk, as the jet crashes and sinks into the river with an ominous gurgling sound.
Hero pilot Mr Sullenberger was forced to ditch his plane on January 15 after it collided with a flock of birds shortly after take-off.
All 155 passengers and crew survived the US Airways Flight 1549 from New York’s La Guardia airport, bound for Charlotte, North Carolina.
But the new game has had a mixed response online.
One blogger comments: “The game is about as primitive as you can get.
“Most of the comments below the game hit it on the head. It’s boring, stupid and offensive.”
Yet it is spreading fast across the web and has already been played by several thousand people.

Hero On The Hudson Game: Fun or Dumb?
By FRANK CARNEVALE
NEW YORK - AddictingGames.com has posted “Hero on the Hudson,” a online game where you try to land a plane safely on a river. Sound familiar?
Flight 1549’s emergency landing on the Hudson River after taking off from a New York City airport earlier this month is obviously the origin of this game.
It pretty simple to play: you use your left and right arrow keys to land the plane. And it’s pretty quick: a game lasting only a few seconds.
But it is cool? Most users voted the game thumbs down and the comments haven’t been very positive. alien911 says “Dumb. It wasn’t funny, and it’s like impossible to control.” 5SPEED CHASE does like it and adds “its OKAY but it would be cooler if it had like an inside view like you were the pilot.”

“Congratulations I am the Hero!”
I don’t see what’s offensive about it? I mean it gives the chance for other’s to try and do what this guy did. I mean should this pilot be forgotten? Hell he saved a ton of lives, why shouldn’t there be a game where he’s the hero?
It only offends me because the game sucks.
Dozens?!? On what planet does 155 translate into dozens? Besides, Capt. Sullenberger safely landed an airliner with no engines smack dab in the middle of one of the most densely populated places on Earth and he’s credited with saving DOZENS! Hundreds easily, thousands possibly even. Check out some of the tapes of the landing. Cruise ships use those docks seen in the background of the videos. When a cruise ship leaves those docks, the back of the boat is in NJ. If a cruise ship had been arriving or departing, the loss of life would have been staggering.
Capt. Sullenberger, you are one Hell of a pilot! And God did a great job of keeping the river clear of traffic.
lol what a funny game. Then again, my taste is horrible: I’ve started laughing at 9/11 jokes since hussein got into office.
Ha! Im reinstalling Flight Sim X
in the game, if you land th plane, the passngers will sue. might as well make it crash if ur gonna get sued regardless
