GOP Georiga Rep Tells Rush To Shut Up – With Video

POLITICO: Rush Limbaugh may command a large following, but his caustic comments Monday about the GOP’s congressional leadership have at least one Republican House member defending his colleagues and offering an unusually candid critique of the talk radio powerhouse and his fellow commentators.

Responding to President Obama’s recommendation to Republican congressional leaders last week that they not follow Limbaugh’s lead, the conservative talkmeister said on his show that Obama is “obviously more frightened of me than he is Mitch McConnell. He’s more frightened of me, than he is of, say, John Boehner, which doesn’t say much about our party.”

Rep. Phil Gingrey, R-Ga., did not take kindly to this assessment in an interview with Politico Tuesday.

“I think that our leadership, Mitch McConnell and John Boehner, are taking the right approach,” Gingrey said. “I mean, it’s easy if you’re Sean Hannity or Rush Limbaugh or even sometimes Newt Gingrich to stand back and throw bricks. You don’t have to try to do what’s best for your people and your party. You know you’re just on these talk shows and you’re living well and plus you stir up a bit of controversy and gin the base and that sort of that thing. But when it comes to true leadership, not that these people couldn’t be or wouldn’t be good leaders, they’re not in that position of John Boehner or Mitch McConnell.”

Asked to respond to Gingrey, Limbaugh, in an email to Politico, wrote: “I’m sure he is doing his best but it does not appear to be good enough. He may not have noticed that the number of Republican colleagues he has in the House has dwindled. And they will dwindle more if he and his friends don’t show more leadership and effectiveness in battling the most left-wing agenda in modern history. And they won’t continue to lose because of me, but because of their relationship with the grassroots, which is hurting. Conservatives want leadership from those who claim to represent them. And we’ll know it when we see it.”

The back and forth comes as some on the right speak more openly about what they perceive as the lack of leadership in the Republican Party. Unapologetic conservatives, like Limbaugh would prefer to see elected Republicans confront the new president. But many GOP officials, daunted by the new president’s approval rating and what they believe is fatigue on the part of voters over partisan fighting, are loath to openly criticize Obama.

This bill has mostly pork and not stimulus. Most of the spending won’t take place for a year or two and are for social programs.

The democrats have the Presidency and the majority in both houses of Congress. They can pass this bill on their own if they want to.

    Let them.

ummm… don’t you mean our people and our country?
damn…we need a good flush in 2010, on both sides. With a strong Rep lead.

Sometimes the best way to rebuild a football team is to break it up and start all over again from scratch. What you need are a nice mix of no-names and a few key vets.

Same for the Repubic party. Lose the Doles and McCains. Find some Palins, some combat vets and a Gingrich to lead them and we’ll sweep back into power as we did in 94.

  • bill-tb

Spending is not stimulus. Here ask failed President FDR’s treasury sec how it went — 1939 admission of FDR’s Treasury Secretary Henry Morgenthau, in which he said:

“We are spending more than we have ever spent before, and it does not work. We have never made good on our promises . . . I say after eight years of this administration we have just as much unemployment as when we started . . . And an enormous debt to boot!”

Yes it’s a real exact quote.

  • American Woman (bitter clinger to my guns and religion)

Not so sure if we could rebuild if we dwindle too small.
We all know Amnesty will be passes this year if not next week at this warp speed. With 15million more liberal voters it is a sharp uphill battle. We have to push back now, we are at the tipping point!
McCain and Lyndsey Grahamn are the ones to watch. The dims have enough votes to pass all their bills, the only reason they want a repub or two is for cover. If the dims were confident their bills would be successful they wouldnt care about a gop vote but since they know it will fail if they have a couple repubs they can claim “bipartisianship” and blame the gop during the campaign of 2010.
This bill when/if passes is for the dim stronghold and re-election…basically we are pretty toast…

    Now T H A T is power thinking.

But, how do we do it? In practical nuts and bolts terms? How do we flush the detritus from the system? We hold no Republican power levers or are even in position to start (that I know of). I’ve been a Republican for 34 years, but I’m not a financial contributor and have never even volunteered at a polling place.

    Anyone have any ideas?

It’s about time these lame-ass republicans started listening to Rush, Hannity et al… why do they think these conservative talkers are so popular? Because people don’t agree with them…? No, most conservatives are looking for the same kind of leadership Rush is talking about. Polling has never showed popular acceptance of all of the bailout BS that is going on, yet republicans jump on the bandwagon with Obambi.  I think republicans have more fatigue for bad leadership and compromise than for partisan fighting. It is not as if this is a fight for nothing… the future of the United States is at stake, and somebody on the right side of the aisle needs to take it that seriously  :???:

Rush’s reply to Politico is spot on!

Verbal and physical demonstrations are both required to light up the party leaders.

There are good staunch conservatives out there and ready to run for and serve in office at all levels, the problem is the localm state and national Republican leaders are gutless to support them.

This little quote “But many GOP officials, daunted by the new president’s approval rating and what they believe is fatigue on the part of voters over partisan fighting, are loath to openly criticize Obama.” says it all.

The democrat party gained power exactly because the are willing to speak out and loudly at times against the consrvatives. The majority of voters who support the party of socialist latley are sheep. They do not understand or know the goals or agenda of the democrats. They think that since the dems are more vocal, they MUST be in the majority, and in the right.

95% of the people are followers, only 5% are leaders, and able to make decisions. Of those 95%, many are looking to go with the winners, not necessarily the right. That is how Hitler, Mussolini, and the communists came to power.

I let the local and state officials here in Cleveland Ohio know how I feel. Kucinich will not even reply to emails anymore. I speak to co-workers, friends and neighbors on the issues. The looks I get sometimes are scary, but more and more often I am getting agreement, and looks of astonishment from those who finally are getting it.

It takes people who are willing to speak out and possibly becoming a pariah to head the nation back to where we need it.

I have contacted the local GOP offices to let them know I am willing to run for any office I am qualified to hold. I have 15+ years in banking, 12 years in the military. I have a family, and excellent credit. There are no felonies on my record, and it has been over 15 years since my last speeding ticket.

I am too conservative, and not willing to cave on my beliefs, and will likely never be supported for any elected office. I am willing to serve ,and even to work to eliminate any political office. I have worked myself out of jobs before by increasing efficiencies and cutting waste. That is not what the political parties actually want, they want yes men I do believe.

I will campaign for Governor Sarah Palin for POTUS, and I will support anyone that can help unseat the local liberal powerhouse stranglehold on the local government.

I donate where I can, but even after 15 years and an MBA, I make less than 98% of elected officals, and even all other governemnt employees, so I can’t give as much as I would like. I support less government, and more individual responsibility.

Everyone reading Dollard needs to write to the local papers, email and call elected officials. Even go so far as to tick off the local news, email the television and radio stations. Conservatives and patriots can take control of our wonderful country, if we can get vocal.

    Semper Fidelis

Congressmen Phil Gingrey is just another gutless politician that is more interested in his position of power than in the people he is supposed to serve.

    Go get ‘em Rush!

  • Kirk

One time I called a politician about an issue coming up, and I received a letter stating his agreement with my position, but included with my letter was another letter that was addressed to someone else, with agreement for exactly the opposite point of view. As long as you have politicians that are more concerned with trying to stay in power, by telling people what they think they want to hear, and trying to straddle the fence, and compromising on issues that shouldn’t be compromised on, we all will continue to see our country slip away, because of these gutless individuals. As long as the Republicans are outnumbered anyway, if they vote in agreement on anything the democrats put up for a vote, somehow they will be blamed when it goes down in flames. Let the democrats take all the credit, and when it bellies up, everyone will know who to blame. If the Republicans don’t take a firm stand against the very things their supposed to, such as abortion, gun control, socialist programs, etc… without compromise, they will continue to lose support. The democrats may push their garbage through, but it shouldn’t be with Republican help. The line in the sand, has been drawn.

    Pulled directly from Gingrey’s website:

    Gingrey comments on Rush misunderstanding

    Washington, Jan 28 –

Congressman Phil Gingrey, MD (R-GA) made the following statement in response to an article that ran in Politico Newspaper about comments he made regarding conservative commentator, Rush Limbaugh and the Republican Leadership:

Because of the high volume of phone calls and correspondence received by my office since the Politico article ran, I wanted to take a moment to speak directly to grassroots conservatives. Let me assure you, I am one of you. I believe I was sent to Washington to fight for and defend our traditional values of smaller government, lower taxes, a strong national defense, and the lives of the unborn. In my six years in Washington, I have led the charge on many of these issues. In fact, in 2008 The National Journal ranked me the #1 most conservative Member of the House of Representatives.

As long as I am in the Congress, I will continue to fight for and defend our sacred values. I have actively opposed every bailout, every rebate check, every so called “stimulus.” And on so many of these things, I see eye-to-eye with Rush Limbaugh. Regardless of what yesterday’s headline may have read, I never told Rush to back off. I regret and apologize for the fact that my comments have offended and upset my fellow conservatives—that was not my intent. I am also sorry to see that my comments in defense of our Republican Leadership read much harsher than they actually were intended, but I recognize it is my responsibility to clarify my own comments.

Now more than ever, we need to articulate a clear conservative message that distinguishes our values and our approach from those of liberal Democrats who are seeking to move our nation in the wrong direction. Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Newt Gingrich, and other conservative giants are the voices of the conservative movement’s conscience. Everyday, millions and millions of Americans—myself included—turn on their radios and televisions to listen to what they have to say, and we are inspired by their words and by their determination. At the end of the day, every member of the conservative movement, from our political commentators and thinkers to our elected officials, share an important and common purpose in advancing the cause of liberty, reigning in a bloated federal government, and defending our traditional family values.

Translation: Ah crap… I’m about to be tarred and feathered with the rest of the RINO’s & dems… lemme get out in front of this now.
