Shumer: “We’ll Get To 60″

One day after warning Republicans against opposing the stimulus package, Senate Democrats are making a wager: Republicans are ready to hop on board.

In a conference call with reporters Friday afternoon, Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) declined to say how many Republicans would end up supporting the bill. But he said Democrats would win at least 60 votes.

“I don’t think it’s touch-and-go whether we’ll get to 60,” Schumer said. “I think we’ll get to 60.”

Schumer listed off a series of GOP-favored amendments Democrats were willing to accommodate in the final bill, including greater spending on infrastructure and investment – and argued that the flexibility would help win GOP votes.

“This shows this is an open process with lots of room for compromise,” Schumer said. “Here in the Senate, I think we have a chance to be different than the House.”

Democratic Sen. Jack Reed, also on the call, said Republican efforts to increase tax cuts in the package wouldn’t win Democratic support.

“That’s just staying the course,” Reed argued. “We have to change the course drastically.”

    What the FUCK do Dems need Rep approval for?! They can ram this “stimulus” bill up the Rep party’s collective ass like some massive dildo! But I will own that they could at least have the manners to say “please” when they ask us to bend over.

    This false stimulus boondoggle is actually beatable. The odds are long but balls, cloture, the filibuster, and severe public pressure could hand the Demonrat troika a real defeat and buy us some much needed time to allow Obamarxist to putrefy a bit.

    If the entire Republican Senate “caucus” stands together – they can successfully Filibuster this 819 Billion dollar “Stimulus”-NOT Bill (this vote-buying, criminal-group funding, bureaucracy-building, Pork-barrel spending, deficit exploding abomination).

    If We the People don’t tell our elected leaders NOW that we don’t want Obama’s (Pelosi’s and Reid’s) phony-baloney stimulus bill… they will ultimately cower before – and completely cave in to – the Orwellian Mass Media’s (a.k.a. the Democrat Party’s) propaganda machine.

    Call (or write via e-mail form) ALL FORTY-ONE of the Republicans in the Senate and demand that they KILL this Pelosi-Reid-Obama phony-baloney stimulus bill.
