Which “Would Be” Senator Bothers You Most?
For me it’s the idea of Al Franken taking, and I do mean “taking”, the Senate seat. The whole Senate election between him and Coleman should be thrown out and a special election held. I know that costs $$$ … however, these endless, and highly tainted recounts, and then taking the whole thing to court shortly will possibly cost as much as a special election … if not more. The whole thing has stunk hugely all along.
As to Burris … Whatever we think about the man, Blago was technically within his power (that he still held because no one within the State of Illinois saw fit to take the steps to remove those powers from him) to appoint someone to that seat. The Senate itself does not get to pick and choose who takes the seat. Granted, everyone looks upon this appointment of Burris as ‘tainted’ … However, aside from his political history and beliefs contrary to ours … and who in the democrat party’s aren’t?, Burris is qualified and fits the perimeters by which members of the Senate are laid out in our Constitution. Now, whether or not something was ‘exchanged’ with Blago for his appointment … that IS left to be examined and revealed. THEN we do have a major problem.
But for now, my ire is saved for Franken …
Oh, and I don’t know about Burris … But Franken is a frakkin’ lunatic.
