Now, chances are, Pat has greatly exaggerated his abilities with both firearms and the ladies, although I think shooting the ladies may well be one of his best talents we’ve seen so far. You will need someone that can cook as well, and not from a box, as there will be no boxes to open, so I suggest maybe you either convince a chef to come along, or take a fat guy like me who knows how to make things taste less like cardboard. Not to mention I can shoot and stay calm under fire. Just sayin….

Good work! Keep selling. Everyone needs at least a rimfire rifle and pistol for inexpensive practice, a centerfire of each for real use, and everything needed for their care and feeding. Some of us “need” many more plus a handloading room full of those goodies, but we may be contagious and should be avoided.
Ammo, accessories, and everything really except the guns themselves and primers can be easily sold online and shipped. Maybe your shop’s owner needs to create “Jenny’s Range Shack” as an online store giving you a nice commission and Pat some advertising income.

First, you didn’t force yourself into this group, you have proven that you belong here. Second, service to your country is not measured in the time you have devoted to spend in the military. While it is easy for us to say that the heroes are the men and women in uniform, a hero is equally defined as one who has chosen to do the right thing by protecting what is dear in this country at the potential cost of his or her livelihood, personal comfort, and stance on issues such as the Constitution.
There are those of us who have served our country by blood and sweat, and there are those who have served by keeping the faith in and fighting to enforce by political pressure applied in the right spots.
The co-op thing is entirely what we need. We will have to take our country back by force, which means that we will need adequate force to do so. Having said force, is not an easy achievement. It means that we will need the support teams building, fixing, truing, and bluing. We will need a good command structure, as the central brain. We will need those who are the eyes and ears, then we will need those who are the brawn. We will need those like Jenny, who are volunteering to doctor those in need of it. You would be surprised at the coop needed. Hippies didn’t invent it, they borrowed it from the Great Depression, and then soiled it with the whole drug movement. Peace and love and all that other happy horseshit won’t be our movement. It will be “Peace by strength and saving our Republic as it is. Death to Socialism and liberalism.” With much death to be shared, but not much LSD… What a trip…

There is water and game to be had in and around there. Wild boar, not far from there is some white tail hunting too. The desert is not always what it appears to the untrained eye. I’m glad horsemanship is one of my talents because that’s the best way to traverse that territory, and it’s dam sneaky too 
You never ever shoot at the alarm system, coyotes are your friend. They make great garbage men and early warning systems.
The water in our deserts is mostly subterranean. I carry a 5ft length of 2″ pipe with me when I’m out scouting around the boonies. Just find a sandy creek or river bottom and look for green plant life and hammer that sucker into the river bottom near by and after a couple of tries you’ll hit water. the natural water pressure will force it up out of the pipe and bingo instant water fountain! there are watering holes here and there also but they sometimes dry up on the surface. If all else fails your horse or mule will lead you to it.
Watch the wild life, and the bees for water. If you know
where to look you can find tanks, reserviors, and hidden
springs in the desert.
Horses or mules work for traveling in the desert. Also if
you know how to get in, there’s parts of the lava flows
that are hidden canyons full of wild life, grass and water.
Don’t forget, puma and rattlesnake make for good meals.
If you’re traveling don’t highlight yourself.
On the horses, mustangs make great transportation, they’re
desert and mountain wise.
And be careful about finding yourself in a flash flood,
you can drown in the desert.
Someone’s gotta grew and service those flying machines and fix the other stuff you break … I’ll bring lots of tools and of course my own protection. Oh Yeah I cook some killer SW (as in New Mexico) food and this place looks like home to me …

Get working on a die that will punch out copper sheets into .224 boat tail rounds. Think swaging and stamping, then filling with lead core. If you need an idea as to how to do it, buy some .224 projectiles and measure them. The cannelure is a rolling process.
You’ll need to get that figured out too, which shouldn’t be all that difficult. Shit even if we don’t go to the bunker, I am interested to see if you can do it. It sure would gut the (yes gut) the costs of reloading. I say gut because a copper sheet can be had fairly cheaply. The lead? Tire shops. Wheel weights. You make the stamp for the jackets, I’ll make the projectiles, then Blue can reload them for us. (Gotta include Blue)…

Looking at the scope you are eyeing, I have a feeling that you could very easily enjoy lowering the costs of your using it. As I convinced momma on my side, a reloader will pay for itself in X amount of boxes of ammo, this equipment could very easily lower the costs of your ammo and reloading components substantially. (Hint, hint…)
By the way, his pricing seems to be fairly reasonable. I was surprised.

You front me some cash to buy components and I can load .45, .40, and if I can find dies, I’ll buy some 5.56 (.223 dies will work but there are none to be found down here at present, funny, huh?) and reload it too. The rounds will be SAAMI and by the book. I’ll just deny they came from me.
Shipping will kick our asses, but the savings in components and all that should be enough to offset it. Last I went to the gun store, and I’ll go tomorrow to see how far off I am, but a box of 50 Winchester White Box .45 ACP were around $15-16. Those very same 230 grain FMJ’s reloaded with the very same Win231 powder and Zero bullets worked out to around $6 a box of 50, including Starline new brass. Prices may have jumped a bit, but they will still “reload: cheaper than buying factory.

Expert marksman with just about anything that shoots including bows. Prefer M-14. Some gunsmith skills and a reloader by hobby…now a necessity. Have Dillon press with dies for .40, .308, and .41 mag.
Hunt, kill, gut, skin, and butcher wild game up to and including elk. BTDT. Last elk killed was 1998 in Idaho.

I’ve known of the Corbin equipment for some time, but just have not had the funds to afford it. The press is the cheap part it’s all of the dies and swagging tools that really cost you. So I’ve been experimenting down a different road which is much less costly. And that is alloyed lead solids with gas checks. They can be made very hard and don’t fowl your barrel or gas system. You can get molds for anything, and the finished cast weight is just as tight as sierra matchkings. You can get molds to cast over other cores like steel or tungsten. And it’s a lot easier to manufacture gas checks than copper jackets for swagging.
As for being cost effective it’s really hard to beat alloyed lead cast projectiles. And you don’t need to cannelure because it’s cast into the projectile during production.
As for other components I’m a licensed 06 and have connections for bulk bass and projectiles. I would need to call my sources but the last time I checked pricing I could get new primed Lake City 7.62nato brass for $250.00 per thousand, 5.56 nato was a little cheaper new primed not from pull down. Projectiles vary in cost depending on the type your purchasing. Right now there is a real lack of .30 cal projectiles in bulk out there (wonder why). But let me make a few calls on monday and see what’s floating around.
Like Hardball stated the shipping will kick your butt, but if we were to figure out delivery points around the nation that people could meat at for pickup then it could be bulk shipped to fewer points where people could come and pick it up like a co-op. On the .338 I have to mention an observation I have made on not just this round but for any extreme long range caliber. And that is the lack of nearly everything associated with them.
With the exception of Midway there is no .338 RUM brass availible.
All of the 8lb kegs of propellant used in any of the super magnum calibers is gone. I can only find 1lb containers of the specialty propellants.
Projectiles are few and far between and the ones that are out there have increased in price. (though I do have a nice lead on a couple of 500 round bulk cases of .338 matchkings)

What I have in mind is much more mobile and total access to bountiful fresh water, food and fuel. It will be hot and humid. Plenty of gators (much more than Florida could dream of) fish, ducks, geese, deer, rabbit & snakes. It will take some getting used to the mosquito population in the summer and fall though. Give me a knife and an axe and I will be completely self sufficient in about a week.
While you are eating coyote, scorpions, beans and what not, I’ll be fat and happy, and bathing at least on a weekly basis with collected rainwater.

You have got to be a long lost cousin of mine or something.
I will not be in any jungles or swamps, but instead marshes, which are wide open grasslands with a lot of water cover in some areas. There are numerous “ridges” and dry areas. This is why for a number of years the marshes in SW Louisiana had the highest cattle density (outside of feed lots) in the entire United States. I’ve never ever heard of a case of malaria in those parts.
Also, the entire population, with less than 1% as exceptions to the rule, are gun toting, fishing, hunting, shrimping, & crabbing type folks. Even the uber wealthy there never dress in anything more than khaki pants or new set of jeans, except when flying off to a board meeting, or attending a funeral of a friend.

Marsh deer while not trophies are more bountiful than in even 90 year old geezer’s memory. Then there are all of those cattle which are normally shipped to West Texas feedlots to be finished out.

I didn’t intend my statement in my last post as a slap at you, by all means on the contrary. My preferences are just that. Your preferences are yours.
The only issues I see with your plan (FOR ME) are:
A.) How many cattle can take care of themselves? And where will they be when the proverbial shit hits the fan?
B.) Crawdad are great, but they just aren’t my style. I prefer lobster if I am gonna eat a bug. The only way I see us getting to the lobster is to maintain our boats off of the Florida coast and grab some spiny lobster when in season, then heading north east and taking over the entire east coast for the Maine when they are in season. That would require one hell of a fight, one that would take us through at least two to three seasons of both locations.
C.) Marsh land is still swamp land. Feet and water for extended periods (assuming the already mentioned proverbial shit hit the fan) can lead to serious issues including the often mentioned “jungle rot” regardless of locale, swamp, jungle or marsh. While I admire your version of the dream, I just prefer dry air and a warm rock to keep me motivated. There is also much easier vantage points to defend when it comes to places like pictured above. Ever fight in a marsh, swamp or jungle? 1989 Panamanian invasion taught me that I much prefer urban or open terrain. MUCH scary shit fighting like that…
D.) I am well versed in marsh deer, we shoot them all the time in Florida as well. Shetland ponies mixed with great danes. I prefer elk, as it simply tastes better, in my opinion.
When you get to the marsh and get set up, we’ll still need you for a checkpoint and for a supply stop, so hell, man, let us know when you get it hooked up.

Cattle are quite capable of taking care of themselves.
During the American Civil war, cattle all over Texas were abandoned, reproducing in the thousands,
all the way from the Big Thicket to South Texas.
Especially the Long Horn.

There are plenty of places to go on the south side of LA Hwy 14. Some of it in rice and the rest marsh. Also West Hackberry near Lake Charles (my growing up spot)
Swamp has trees, marsh has grasses.
One thing about the Louisiana coastal marshes are the salt domes with an area of at least a square mile each that is high and dry. Locals refer to them as islands. There also are a succession of “ridges” running somewhat parallel to the coast. The Texas coast down to Corpus Christi is much the same terrain. There is plenty of deep marsh where one could hide for years. Many areas are only floating turf and have “no bottom”. Marsh in Louisiana is a lot different that Florida. Now the Atchafalaya Basin once had towns in the high spots which thrived with their own veggies enough to support the populace. Jobs in the chemical plants and oilfields took all the young ones away and to town. I’m certain that the same thing occurred in Florida.
As for deer, the West TX native variety with large racks are about like German Shepherds with horns, not even Great Danes.
For rabbits a Q-Beam and a 22 cal are all that is needed to sink a 16′ boat with dead rabbits on a night hunt. That is what the oldtime hunters prefer for rabbit and nutria hunting. Nutria was profitable to trap until PETA, but not even the trappers ever wanted the meat.

What we got off of him was almost a waste of time and certainly a waste of ammunition. Hell, I even felt bad. But, that’s what we get for living in a naturally warm environment, the animals stay smaller to regulate their heat better.
Now, if the proverbial shit hit the fan, we can certainly have a beer over some gator tail. I have been on the waiting list for three years now since I got the last lottery pull. We got an 8′ and a 10′ (two of us) in one night. If you think for a second those hides didn’t go to enriching my ass just a bit, you’d be mistaken. The meat is gone, but it was good while it lasted.
I am considering, next winter, heading into Kansas and Nebraska and hitting a white tail or two from up that way. I certainly would love to get up there for pheasant season in the next year or so. (Pending employment and economic recovery personally.)
I miss the midwest for the hunting, and I certainly miss the catfish in Oklahoma. Something in the water, I guess, but the catfish here taste entirely bland, or entirely gamey, it will go either way.
We will make whatever we can work, I am sure, and we have plenty of expertise amongst us to make it work wherever we end up. Just hope we don’t have a bust like the Great Depression coming our way… The way Ofuck and Congress are spending, I almost feel it coming.
