And So It Begins: Reporter Restrained After Panetta Hearing

Tell me agian … How did the Bush Administration and the government silenced the press …?

Ladies and gentlemen, the machines are taking over.

I was talking with Kurt TI last night. I have been following that frakkin Sci/Fi series Battle Star Galactica for years.

This is the ‘final season … final episodes’ where the hapless lone surviving humans have set out for the 13th Colony known as Earth after massive nuke attacks on their 12 Colony planets by the Cylons, with the menicing machines they created and that have since gained their own murdering independence hot on the trail of their ragtag fleet of space ships. Only half of the machines you cannot tell apart from the humans, the other half look like Terminators without the ’skins’.

Anyhow, there has been a power struggle since last season. The Admiral has fallen in love with one of the machine/humans and half of the humans have decided with most of the machines that they can coexist and stop trying to kill each other. Now, during the last few years, the show seemed to half-assed reflect a biased outlook on the Bush Administration’s WOT. We humans just didn’t understand the Cylons’ “godly beliefs” … so the Cylons were killing the humans and the humans were killing the ‘toasters’ …

But I digress. This season picked up where last season left off … They’d found Earth, but we stupid Earthlings had scorched it pretty much dead with nukes or whatever. Hence, the “let’s just all get along” politics now.

So the other half of the humans that will not accept the Cylons have mutinied and taken over Galactica, the lead ship in the fleet, and the once criminal and very militant VP has usurped the presidency from the President. He calls a meeting of the heads of the other ships in the fleet (aka, the “Congress” if you will) informs them all that he is now in charge and this is the way things will be run now, a dictatorship … and when they responded with doubts, resistance, and opposing ideas … he had them ALL shot …

I dunno why I just shared this all with you. Except that for some reason it just struck me as highly interesting in conjunction with our wonderful new age of hope and change in our government and country.

Thatisall.

Following Leon Panetta’s confirmation hearing Thursday, several reporters approached the CIA director-designate in the hallway outside room G-50 in the Dirksen Building.

There, CongressDaily reporter Chris Strohm — upon asking a question — was physically restrained by a man who accompanied Panetta at hearings both days.

Strohm, when reached by phone Friday, said he was unsure of the man’s role.

“I felt this hand grab my right arm and push me aside,” Strohm said.

By his account, Strohm told the man, “Please don’t touch me” more than once. Eventually, the man let him go.

Tim Starks, a reporter for Congressional Quarterly, said he witnessed Strohm approach Panetta and ask a question, just before the man began “grabbing him by the arm and moving him away.”

“I said to the guy, ‘That’s not the way you do it,’” recalled Starks.

Starks said that he’s covered the CIA for years and had never seen a reporter strong-armed that way before, adding that the agency is typically respectful of journalists.

Reflecting on the incident, Strohm played it down somewhat, saying that he’s “had worse happen” while reporting.

A staff assistant at The Panetta Institute said they are not addressing any media inquiries before Panetta’s confirmation. The White House declined to comment.

After today’s hearing, there was no similar incident: Panetta briefly answered questions from reporters.

This is actually the 2ND incident of a reporter being detained. Another gentleman was detained after a press conference a few days ago for asking obama for an autograph. He was later allowed back in the press room to retrieve his personal belongings then escorted off the property.
I will try and re-find the link to that story.

Wow. Put in a new government, while we are down.
They are basically trying to put the poor in power, because they are so easily fooled.

These jackasses don’t care about the poor or anyone else. Nancy Pelosi fly’s high and lives a lavish life so far removed from the poor that she would poop her panties if she actually met one in the hall.

This is a power play. The poor are pawns in the this debate. The poor have always been pawns of the Democratic party. It is power that Obama wants. Unabashed, Unapoligetic and Unamerican raw POWER. They buy the votes of the poor with worthless programs that create no assets or value in our society.

He and Nancy want the power of total control of the money, who gets to keep it and who gets to receive it. In their mind no man or woman has the right to enjoy the fruits of their labor. To them, what each individual produces should belong to the State. Their hunger for the power that they crave will not end until they have the power of life and death over all within their domain.

I have never seen a president act so unpresidential until the other night when Mr Obama got up a raved about why we need to pass this spending plan. He presented no real argument to convince anyone. He bullied and sacrasticaly chided. He was arrogant. He was dictatorial. He was a complete braying jackass. He was Hitler-like. And he was scary.

It was mindless youth and uninformed progressives that put Hitler in charge of Germany. And it appears to me that history now repeats itself.

  5. this is pretty creepy to say the last. here you have a guy who is now our President, does not believe in the press being able to ask whatever question they like. which should be allowed consideration we have constitutional rights last i checked. then his goons begin to strong arm reporters. whats next? well you prepare for whats next because no one fully knows yet.
