A farmer in India’s northern Uttar Pradesh plays a good Samaritan by tending to a 10-foot-long injured python.
Gulab Singh, who lives in northern India’s Uttar Pradesh state, took the wounded reptile under his wings when he found it lying on roadside.
The python, which had suffered injuries after getting caught in fishing net, is now a member of Gulab’s household and has become a fascination for the villagers.
(SOUNDBITE) (Bhojpuri) GULAB SINGH, FARMER WHO RESCUED THE WOUNDED PYTHON: “When the forest department officials came to take away the python I told them they would only leave it somewhere, so its better I keep it with me and look after it. I told them once it gets well then it can stay or leave as it wishes.”
