Hell, I’m all for legalization of weed, no im not a libertarian, but if alcohol, which is PHYSICALLY addictive (i’m a recovering alcoholic) is legal, and a drug that still hasn’t been quantifiably categorized as a depressant, narcotic, upper, downer, etc is illegal, makes no sense. Tens of thousands of people die in this country alone due to alcohol related accidents, yet how many families have been plowed into by a guy stoned out of his head? they generally drive slower, and stop at every fast food stand. The amount of tax and regulation able to be generated not only in over the counter sales, but in ‘pot clubs’ across the country would be staggering. Not only that, but all the local pot dealers would have to get real jobs (as owners/managers of the aforementioned clubs)and have to pay taxes on their income, which they currently don’t; that would go far in getting the job market back on track. Plus, with the legal availability, the drug trade across our borders (at least with pot) would all but shrivel up, and we can just shoot the coke and meth manufacturers and distributors.

lot less idiots in jail and prison, thats a lot of money saved

Legalization is (as it should) probably going to happen.

    With legalization you get

    reduction in law enforcement costs
    reduction is Judicial System costs
    reduction in penal system costs

reduction in teens access to marijuana… was talking to a guy who said he never had problems getting weed when he was young. I asked if had problems getting beer. He said alcohol was too much of a pain in the ass to get cause wasnt old enough. I said thats right but no weed dealer ever “carded” you did they?

    Increase in tax reciepts

a legitimization of a percentage of the Mexican drug market (assimilates them into their economy and reduces thier “turf” wars)

A whole BUNCH of HAPPY citizens

Managed like alcohol .. legalization has no negative impact… unless you make money from the system (lawyer, Prison Corporation, drug testing lab)

“IT’S THE NATIONS #1 CASH CROP!!”

Only because it’s illegal. Once the pressures (ie. the police)on the supply side of the supply/demand equation are removed, weed will be so cheap that the government will have to pay farm subsidies in order for a grower to make a profit.

You think the government would have to subsidize the crop? I dont. I think that it would be marketed and produced just like beer. It certainly has a cheaper production cost than beer…and Budweiser seems to do Ok in any economy eh? How difficult would it be to convert some of the oat & barley fields to marijuana production. Just about all the same market factors apply to both products.

Sure would make it more tolerable to live in this fucked up state.

Steve, unfortunately, the act of growing pot is quite expensive, if done properly, without the use of illegal chemicals in the growing process. Indonesian bat guano is the preffered fertilizer, and is insanely expensive. As is the cost of growing indoors, which yields a higher quality crop, faster with less damage to the crop from pests. (not that I’ve ever done it myself, honestly, i’m just a wealth of useless information) no sarc, no funny, just facts.

    PROGRESS!

Will take alot of the sting out of the Mexican Cartels as well, legal dope will cut in on there hard drug trade.

Roll it. Light it. Smoke it. Evade taxes on it.

I’m proposing a state tax on people with German accents. $1 is paid into a jar fund everytime you can’t speak English clearly. Ahnold, send me that $240,388 any time you get a chance.

BTW Ahnold was a pothead when he lifted, I wonder if he still burns curn.
