Too many people coming on at once. Six-times server capacity on average. We took the steps for a long-term fix. Will all be finalized in about 24 hours. Should be fine for now, regardless.

    You still fucked up my chi man… had to seek another form of therapy for my mental dementia (according to the liberal airbags). I actually slept last night, we can’t be having that…If I sleep, I have too much energy, which in turn drives me to want to actually mount up and ride. If I mount up and ride, I might do it armed and then what will we have?

    I have a PITA client that’s a cheap bastard. Their VPN went down, and want me to diagnose and repair it for free.

    While I’m working to diagnose the problem and prescribe a solution, the owner apparently didn’t like how long I was taking and asked his son to look at the server. Kid has no knowledge of Linux and starts executing scripts, etc., that blow out all the firewall rules. I then see some external IP address has connected to port 445, which is used in Windows NetBIOS to connect to file shares across non-adjacent networks. Another review of the kid’s “new” firewall rules also shows unhindered access to ports 137, 138, and 139.

    That’s it. Cheap bastard wants to gouge me for free service, and when I’m not fast enough he sends in his son to REALLY fuck it up. I send a nasty email to the guy I was working with at the client’s site, informing him I’m absolving myself of the kid’s damage, and if he wants me to continue working on it, well, here’s the dollar amount he needs to cut the Purchase Order for.

    I head to the tavern, and before long the previous contact guy at the client site is nervously calling me on my cel phone. I tell him the same thing: Cheap-ass client wants his son to handle server in order to get rid of me, so I wish him the best of luck.

    I turned off my cel phone before going to bed. Haven’t turned it on yet, and won’t bother to until I finish some other tasks. (Like renew my license tags and buying the ingredients for a killer Greek chili-dog sauce recipe).

    I can’t wait to see what phone calls are in my voicemail. :twisted: :twisted: :twisted:
