At the invitation of Hariri-Saudi group, Hitchens is visiting Lebanon. A source sent me this: “I dont know if you find this as news worthy or not, but Christopher Hitchens is currently in Beirut sponsored by the same group that owns that crap NOW Lebanon. He got in a few nights ago and surprisingly went out drinking. On his way out of the bar he saw an SSNP poster and wrote on it “Fuck the SSNP”. There just happened to be some SSNP thugs near by–most likely asking people for their ID, and most likely to no avail–and saw him write on the poster and kicked his ass. He is still walking with a limp.”

Update: This story has now been confirmed. Look, it’s widely known that since the May 2008 events the SSNP guys have behaved like thugs in Hamra (where the ass-kicking took place). But seriously, would you roll into East L.A. and start writing over gang signs? I mean, is that smart? C’mon, Brother Hitchens, we’re rootin’ for you, but have a little walkin’ around sense. he may be fat and bloated but he became an American citizen out of choice. He renounced his beloved left wingers after their pathetic response to 9/11. He was the most informed and intelligent advocate for our actions in Iraq and was constantly attacked for his unpopular stance. He is one of the smartest guys I’ve ever had the pleasure of drinking with.

To quote Hitchens “I think I sympathize with them a great deal more..” and the words he said regarding what if they have the wrong guy…these are the words of someone who is acquiescing and there should be absolutely no mercy shown towards an enemy that grants to mercy towards us and any other civilians around the world. These are the same people that target women and children with suicide bombers and strap explosives to retarded people.

I agree with you on this issue. I grew up with my brother killing people in Vietnam and then eventually hearing about it for all these years. I know from the stories he told what happens in war. Hitchens is not in a position to judge what is necessary when your friends lives are at stake.
