    Third parties have not succeeded ever in our nation. Teddy’s Bull Moose Party didn’t and neither did the Whigs.

    Actually one third party did succeed. In 1860 there were two parties, the Whig Party (not quite dead at the time)and The Democratic Party. We all know who won that election and what party he represented.

    Third parties can work. Eugene McCarthy damn near pulled in off. He won 42% of the vote for the Dhimi nomination in 68. Had he run in 2008, he could well have been elected POTUS.

    While the issue of slavery and the problems in presented in new territories and in Kansas finally spit apart the Whig Party and forced a schism between North and South and extending to Political Parties; we now have an issue that is similar to slavery….socialism and the usurpation of 200+ years of Constitutional government.

    Once again, it is happening.

    Read your Constitution people:

    “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. — That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, — That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.”

    We must throw off the yoke of Dhimnitude, and socialism by any means necessary.Governments do not give us freedoms which they can also take away. Our freedoms come from our Maker and they are unalienable and unassailable by any socialist/Marxist government or institution. These rights belong to us. Not to the government.

    I attended the Tea Party at the end of the Santa Monica Pier this morning. I arrived at 9:25 AM and it went well past the 10:00 AM shutdown time.

    There were about 80 protesters from all walks of life. There was a gay blogger who had had enough with the spending and mortgage bailouts (log cabin?), a couple of lady’s in period costumes, bonnets and all, people wanting to get back on the gold standard and a guy pushing the recall of the Governator. There were plenty of protest signs and colorful costumes. One guy looked like a politician, but was fairly silent.

    Early on there was a noisy group protest for cameras and plenty of sloganeering.

    I counted at least 4 news groups with cameras and a major LA AM radio station.

    AM 640 KFI radio was interviewing many people, one who seemed to be railing against the current mayor and looked to be a Hispanic mayoral candidate himself?

    FOX NEWS Channel 11 was interviewing many people at length.

    NBC Television was there with a crew interviewing people.

    There were other video cameras in the crowd as well. I assume they were either stringers picking up shots to sell to news organizations across the US, or 1 or 2 documentary film makers. EVERYONE had a camera of some kind taking candid shots all over.

    PAT, were you there? I looked, but there were only a couple of grizzled shave-headed guys shouting slogans there and none seemed to be you.

    All in all, it seemed to be successful. I was sorry to see only 80 or so folks there, but they were all of like mind and if I did not have to leave at 10 I would have spent a great deal of time there collecting business cards and jawing.
