Did I ever tell you how much I LOATH Phil Donahue?
He was on one of the FNC shows right after 9-11-01 attacks, when the Bush Administration was pin-pointing the source of the attacks in Afghanistan and the Taliban. Then the Bush Admin. was prepping our forces, troops, and allies … and our wounded country, for war … and there sat Phil Donahue insisting that we should NOT go into Afghanistan and kick-ass and teardown the bastards that had just murdered over 3000 of our people on our own soil. We needed to ‘understand’ these poor people … We needed to suck it up and just turn the other ass cheek.
Mr. Friedman tries to talk sense to Donahue here, and point out the idiocy of believing socialist/communist systems were somehow more benevolent than capitalist systems that Donahue and his ilk so love to trash and demonize.
In his book “Capitalism and Freedom” (1962) Milton Friedman (1912-2006) advocated minimizing the role of government in a free market as a means of creating political and social freedom.

Yeah, I get that look every time I try to explain that world isn’t unicorns and rainbows. As Reagan said (I’m paraphrasing here, if anyone remembers the exact quote feel free to share), the problem with liberals isn’t that they don’t know anything, it’s that they know so much that just isn’t real.
And when their false beliefs get smashed by reality, instead of readjusting their beliefs they just close their eyes, cover their ears, and shout, “La la la, I can’t hear you!”
Friedman’s “Capitalism and Freedom” is a little book, and is available in paperback. No one with half a brain can after reading that one tiny book remain a lefty. We who know a bit more Economics can piss in each others beer about Austrians vs. Friedmanites; but anyone that still gives Socialist, Keynesian, Marxist, or this wacky hodge-podge coming out of the New Chicago School (Milton must be spinning in his grave) any credibility is looking for excuses not answers.
