Rasmussen: The Shine Is Fading From The Messiah’s Halo As His Approval Ratings Slip

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Approval Index for Saturday shows that 37% of the nation’s voters now Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing as President. Twenty-three percent (23%) of voters Strongly Disapprove to give Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of +14.
The Presidential Approval Index is calculated by subtracting the number who Strongly Disapprove from the number who Strongly Approve. It is updated daily at 9:30 a.m. Eastern.
Today’s numbers reflect a decline for the President since inauguration day. In the first set of interviews conducted after Obama became the nation’s President, 45% Strongly Approved of his performance while 16% Strongly Disapproved for a Presidential Approval Index rating of +29.
Following a week in which the partisan divide in Washington heated up, the number of Republicans who Strongly Approve of the President slipped to single digits—9% now, down from12% a week ago. Slippage among Democrats was even more dramatic, from 76% a week ago to 64% today.
As for those not affiliated with either major political party, 29% now Strongly Approve of the President and 24% Strongly Disapprove. A week ago, those figures were 41% Strongly Approve and 27% Strongly Disapprove.
While the President’s numbers have softened a bit, it’s important to keep the decline in context. President Obama continues to receive positive reviews from American voters. Sixty percent (60%) at least somewhat approve of Obama’s performance so far while 38% disapprove.

As projected by the Rasmussen Employment Index earlier this week, the government report showing nearly 600,000 jobs lost in January weaker than last month’s report—a total of 597,000 jobs were lost. That report will no doubt play into the debate over the stimulus plan working its way through Congress. However, it’s not clear what the impact will be in an environment where 50% of voters worry that the plan may make things worse, not better.
Consumer and investor confidence remain barely above record lows.
Twenty-three percent (23%) of Americans say it’s at least somewhat likely that human civilization will be destroyed this century by global warming. Most Americans believe the media tries to make global warming seem worse than it is.
Seventy-eight percent (78%) of women say that there is no equal pay for equal work in the United States.

Now it all makes sense, I was out of the loop for the past two weeks. Pelosi thinks the number 500,000 is 500 million. I had been wondering where she got that figure until just now.

Based on the news. Unions are getting killed, wall street and money businesses losing big and so are tech jobs.

My union lost 20% and they are telling us to go find jobs, for those who lost theirs.
These layoffs are going to keep going. Most businesses I see, are laying off based on current news. If the news is bad, more layoffs.
I tell people to join the military. Its stable and you dont get laid off.

The funny thing is, she rattled off the 500 Million number on a news show and was corrected by the commentator. Then she went on to later use the same 500 Million in another speech later in the day.
So its not like no one has told her she is wrong, she is just too stupid to actually make the correction.
I don’t lknow if it’s a record….hmmm…one to look up but I do know that these past two weeks have felt like a decade…..hopefully if he keep this trend up, he will be at rock bottom at the end of 3 months!!! then hopefully CHANGE comes!!!
