Sen. Judd Gregg (R): “Bipartisan” Pick For Obama, Or A”Tool” For Filibuster-Proof Dem Majority? - With Video

Deal for Gregg replacement?
By VICTORIA MCGRANE
It sounds as though some deal-making has been going on as Republican leaders Sunday sounded mysteriously confident that Sen. Judd Gregg’s potential departure to the Obama administration would not give Democrats a veto-proof 60 seat majority.
“Sen. Gregg has assured me that if this were to happen, if it were to happen, it would not change the make-up of the Senate,†Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) said on CBS’s “Face the Nation.†“In other words, whoever is appointed to replace him would caucus with Senate Republicans, so I think it would have no impact on the balance of power in the Senate.â€
“I think that’s been thought through. I suspect that Senator Gregg has thought that through very carefully and would not leave his Republican colleagues in a lurch,†Sen. Jon Kyl (R-Ariz.) said on “Fox News Sunday.â€
But when pressed by host Chris Wallace, Kyl said he was not suggesting that a deal had been struck. “I’m just suggesting that Senator Gregg clearly has thought this through. And if it does turn out that he’s the commerce secretary, that events may unfold in a way that don’t cause us the problem that you suggested.â€
“All right. We’ll have to read between the lines there,†Wallace quipped.
When the news broke earlier this week that Gregg was under consideration for Commerce secretary, the GOP immediately began to worry that the New Hampshire Republican’s departure would hand Senate Democrats a filibuster-proof majority.
New Hampshire Gov. John Lynch is a Democrat. If Gregg accepted the Commerce job and Lynch appointed a Democrat to replace him,, that would give Democrats 60 votes, assuming Al Franken wins his ongoing legal fight against Norm Coleman in Minnesota.
Neither McConnell nor Kyl explained their confidence, but the clear suggestion was that Gregg had reached an agreement with the governor to replace him with a Republican.
An announcement on the Commerce nominee could come as early as Monday. Gregg is said to be a leading contender.

Why sure the Democrat governor in NH will think the same in the morning.
How dumb are Senate Republicans? Rhetorical question, I know.
Just underhanded and dirty enough that the Democrats are sure to try it.
Can we please never NEVER NEVER elect any of these bullshit fake republicans again.
People vote for those who promise the most.
I jumped the gun, in bad mood n just assumed the worst when I saw the headline. If he accepts it…
So if he accepts this job on Monday, what’s to keep him from being fired on Tuesday? It would serve him right.
Scroll back up and stare directly into his ’shifty’ eyes for a full minute. (ok 30 seconds) What do you see in his soul? There are so many RINO’s out there, it seems like we are in Africa of long ago.
What do you expect? He is from New England.
The whole region is lost.
Does anybody think that Sen. Snow from Maine is a conservative?
They are all rhinos.
Tool.
Why would Senator Judd Gregg WANT TO GET MIXED UP IN SOMETHING LIKE THIS? How much longer can Obama remain in the White House?:
The Joint Chiefs of Staff HAVE AN ABSOLUTE CONSTITUTIONAL DUTY to stand behind Guantanamo Military Judge James Pohl UNTIL OBAMA OVERCOMES “RES IPSA LOQUITUR†BY SUPPLYING HIS LONG FORM BIRTH CERTIFICATE AND PROVING HIS ELIGIBILITY TO BE PRESIDENT UNDER ARTICLE 2 OF THE US CONSTITUTION.
On grounds of principle, a Senate Republican should not be joining the Obama Administration. If Senator Judd Gregg cannot think straight on this one, then he should reaize that the Democrat Governor of New Hampshire cannot be trusted. The Democrats want the 60-vote majority in the U.S. Senate too much to expect that they will honor “deals.”
Gregg was the Repub Senator ‘instrumental’ in getting Repubs to support the $700 billion TARP deal.
Y’all get any of that? Maybe the check is in the mail…
