Gun Owners Of America:

The Obama administration is putting a lot of pressure on Congress to slam through the most recent $800+ billion bailout package before anyone has an opportunity to read it.

The Obama administration intones that the details are unimportant. The only thing that matters is the “bigness.” And, by shipping a bill of nearly $900 billion (plus interest) to our children and grandchildren, the package is really, really big –- bigger, in fact, than the budget of our entire government for the first 170 years of our country’s existence.

But now that some of the details are finally starting to leak out of Washington, Gun Owners -– and a lot of other analysts -– are beginning to look at the fine print. And some of it is particularly scary.

Of particular concern to gun owners are sections 13101 through 13434 of HR 1, which would set up the infrastructure to computerize the medical records of ALL AMERICANS in a government-coordinated database.

captphoto_1234295760502-1-0.jpg

True, the bill doesn’t mandate that the data will be in a giant computer under the Oval Office. But it does mandate that your medical records be reduced to a computerized form which is available to it in a second.

This it would do by establishing a National Coordinator for Health Information Technology –- tasked with, among other things, “providing information to help guide medical decisions at the time and place of care.”

It should be scary enough that a government bureaucrat is directed by statute to try to influence your doctor’s decisions with respect to your medical care.

But of even greater concern to gun owners is the fact that a government-coordinated database (which government can freely access) will now contain all records of government-provided and private psychiatric treatment -– including, in particular, the drugs which were prescribed.

Remember last year’s “NICS Improvement Act” otherwise known as the Veterans Disarmament Act? This law codified ATF’s attempts to make you a prohibited person on the basis of a government psychiatrist’s finding that you are a “danger” –- without a finding by any court. Well, roughly 150,000 battle-scarred veterans have already been unfairly stripped of their gun rights by the government.

But people who, as kids, were diagnosed with Attention Deficit Disorder… or seniors with Alzheimer’s… or police with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder… or people who are now theoretically covered by the new law… these people have, generally, not suffered the consequences of its sanctions YET. And the chief reason is that their records are not easily available to the government in a central, easily retrievable, computerized form.

The bailout bill would change all of that. It would push increasingly hard to force your private psychiatrist or government-sanctioned psychiatrist to turn over your psychiatric records to a massive database. This would be mandated immediately if your doctor does business with the government.

This would supposedly save Medicare money in connection with medical treatment. And, the sponsors insist, they would work very hard to protect your privacy.

But this turns the concept of “privacy” on its head. The privacy which is MOST important is privacy from the prying eyes of government –- not privacy of government data against the prying eyes of others. After all, many government data bases have been hacked in recent years, with mountains of information stolen.

So, once the government has access to these computerized psychiatric records, the stage will be set for using that database to take away the gun rights of those with Alzheimer’s, those with ADD, and those with PTSD.

Fuck you, come and take them.

  5. For me…the whole thing…every since election day…has been leading up to war. War, via civil war, sucession of states, declaration of martial law by the government, Islamic jihad, or civil unrest: It does not matter, war is war and it’s coming my brethren.

Talk is cheap, barking dogs don’t bite. Everybody better their asses down to DC on May 30th for the “barking” or warning as I like to think of it. It is to be a peaceful protest, fine. I would like to point out, though, the Constitution is being actively trampled and no one is lifting a finger to actually defend her. It has been decades now of unconstitutional laws and power grabs. The government has no rite to impose anything on business, banks, medicine, guns, etc. Oversight yes, ownership no. Socialization of any segment, HELL NO. If the power is not granted, EXPLICITLY, by the Constitution the government has no say what-so-ever. If nothing changes after this protest, I think the dog will need to stop barking because if all everyone does is talk and complain, the US won’t make it to 2010 to throw these clowns out of office.

Can I ask you all for your opinion? I’m not a kid. I went in the Army in 77, got out in 80 (1/502nd Inf.), then Air Force from 81 to 90 (SR-71 Black Bird), then after a 15 year break, I entered the Army Reserve (2005-2011.) I’m getting to the point!!!!
I was in Iraq 2007-2008 working in Civil Affairs. Never got blown up, but got shot at, and kicked a few doors in. None of that bothers me. On one mission, I was the rear gunner in a Stryker. The unit that I was with were new to the Baqubah area, and we were running blackout. They missed the turn, I had a head set with internal coms. so I let the T.C. know that we needed to turn around, and I told him where the off ramp was. He asked if it was dirt, and I said no, it was asphalt. Twice over the next ten minutes, we had the same conversation. Then one of the Strykers went down a dirt road, flipped over in a canal, killing the driver (a medic.) I’ve been back since march, and I still stay up half the night thinking that if I had spoke up a little louder, that kid would still be alive! I can live with this, but will I hurt myself if I talk to the VA about it? Sorry that I rambled, just want an opinion.

Go by more ammo if you can find it. I was out the other day. I bought the last two boxes of 9mm. No .357 rounds.

They sign said a limit of 30 boxes.

    That your AR?

You know, I’m tired of hearing about the stimilus package. Every day there is something else with it that’s stripping us of our rights. Why the hell doesn’t somebody do something to keep this bill from passing. The Republicans better fucking….my mind went blank. It’s that talking thing. That thing they couldn’t do if the Dems won 2 more seats…..fuck, can’t think right now….braindead after 5 hours of classes.

Don’t let em make fun of you. If you wanted a “Hello Kitty” AR-15, I can certainly make it happen. Of course you wouldn’t legally be able to possess it in Commifornia, so you’d have to move to a more gun friendly state, but I could make it happen. It’s called Dura-Coat. :) We’d have to improvise the “Hello Kitty” logos, but hey, that can be done as well.

Good people of America, I emplore you, stand up for your rights. I am disgusted that 150,000 veterans are barred from carrying arms after they are done their service to our country. This is a slap in the face of those who’ve braved their lives to keep us safe. If anyone deserves arms, its these folks.

Fascist dictatorship here we come. When will our peasant revolt start, I thought, never in my lifetime, now I think, what time in the next 4 years.

Make no mistake about it, we face 2 enemies at present, terrorists from without and our government from within.

I am praying for us all.

    GUN HISTORY

Whether you agree or not, it’s an interesting lesson in history. Something to think about…:

In 1929, the Soviet Union established gun
control. From 1929 to 1953, about 20 million dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
    ——————————

In 1911, Turkey established gun control. From 1915 to 1917, 1.5 million Armenians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
    ——————————

Germany established gun control in 1938 and from 1939 to 1945, A total of 13 million Jews and others who were unable to defend Themselves were rounded up and exterminated.
    ——————————

China established gun control in 1935. From 1948 to 1952, 20 Million political dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
    ——————————

Guatemala established gun control in 1964. From 1964 to 1981, 100,000 Mayan Indians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
    ——————————

Uganda established gun control in 1970. From 1971 to 1979,
300,000 Christians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
    ——————————

Cambodia established gun control in 1956. From 1975 to 1977, one million ‘educated’ people, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
    —————————–

Defenseless people rounded up and exterminated in the 20th
Century because of gun control: 56 million.
    ——————————

It has now been 12 months [written a while ago] since gun owners in Australia Were forced by new law to surrender 640,381 personal firearms to be destroyed by their own government, a program costing Australia taxpayers more than $500 million dollars.

The first year results are now in:
Australia-wide, homicides are up 3.2 percent
Australia-wide, assaults are up 8.6 percent.
Australia-wide, armed robberies are up 44 percent
    (yes, 44 percent)!

In the state of Victoria alone, homicides with firearms are now up 300 percent. Note, that while the law-abiding citizens turned them in, the criminals did not, and criminals still possess their guns!)
While figures over the previous 25 years showed a steady decrease in armed robbery with firearms, this has changed drastically upward in the past 12 months, since criminals now are guaranteed that their prey is unarmed. There has also been a dramatic increase in break-ins and assaults of the ELDERLY. Australian politicians are at a loss to explain how public safety has decreased, after such monumental effort, and expense was expended in successfully ridding Australian society of guns. The Australian experience and the other historical facts above prove it.

You won’t see this data on the American evening news or hear our president, governors or other politicians disseminating this information. Guns in the hands of honest citizens save lives and property and, yes, gun-control laws affect only the law-abiding citizens.

Take note my fellow Americans…..before it’s too late!
The next time someone talks in favor of gun control, please
Remind them of this history lesson.

    With guns, we are ‘citizens’.
    Without them, we are ’subjects’.

Molon Labe? When they come, it will not be with the kinds of weapons with which we are familiar or in reasonable numbers. They will come in droves with all kinds of exotic stuff. We will be reduced to hiding in caves like bin laden.

  33. Hardball1911(Revolutionary Constitutionalist)

    Jenny-O,

That is an actual AR-15, Commifornia legal, made for the possessor’s wife.

This particular rifle caused quite a stir, and made Bloomberg decide that he was going after the folks who make Dura-Coat, which is a firearms “coating” sprayed onto firearms. They make all kinds of colors from red, white, and blue, to you guessed it, pink. They will even mix colors for you if they aren’t too off the wall.

You can find Dura-Coat direct from the guys who make it at:
    http://www.lauerweaponry.com/

I have an AR-15 that I used their coating on and I have to say it is pretty durable.

You move out of Commifornia and I’ll damned sure build you an AR-15. You supply the parts, I supply the expertise. ;)

    Bouke,

Almost all of us that have spent time over there have regrets about things we wish we would have done better. I hate the way you are beating yourself up over this though bro, I can actually feel the pain in your post. Sounds to me like you are beating yourself for the decision of another. The TC had the information you gave him, he may have had other issues and situations to consider as well, but ultimately the call was his and you had already given your input. It really sounds as though your time would be better spent praying for the TC, who was ultimately responsible for that death, than continuing to blame yourself.

We can not give-up our guns under any circumstance. Once they take our guns we have nothing.

Thanks for putting it into perspective. Probably wouldn’t bother me so much if he wasn’t the same age as my youngest son. You’re right though. I’ll hug my son, and pray for the TC.

    Bouke,

No dude, thank you. You are at least ten years my senior (I went in right after HS in 1987), but you were still out there running convoys with the kids in March while my yet to hit 40 behind has been safe on the beach since ‘05. God bless you Bouke, you are a true American.

 In order to defeat a nation you must disarm the citizens. We have Muslim groups training here in the USA. They are a bigger threat than armed law abiding American Citizens, but we are the ones the Government goes after. The Second Amendment states,” The right to bear arms shall not be infringed upon.” Why not lock up the congressmen and senators who took money from Fanny Mae and Freddie Mac that got us into this mess or pelosi who funneled 33 million into economic development for America Samoa for STAR KIST co. Pelosi’s husband owns 17 Million dollars of STAR KIST stock.
