Obama Received a $101,332 Bonus from AIG

Senator Barack Obama received a $101,332 bonus from American International Group in the form of political contributions according to Opensecrets.org. The two biggest Congressional recipients of bonuses from the A.I.G. are – Senators Chris Dodd and Senator Barack Obama.

The A.I.G. Financial Products affiliate of A.I.G. gave out $136,928, the most of any AIG affiliate, in the 2008 cycle. I would note that A.I.G.’s financial products division is the unit that wrote trillions of dollars’ worth of credit-default swaps and “misjudged” the risk.

The Washington Post reports a “mob effect” at A.I.G financial products division:

A tidal wave of public outrage over bonus payments swamped American International Group yesterday. Hired guards stood watch outside the suburban Connecticut offices of AIG Financial Products, the division whose exotic derivatives brought the insurance giant to the brink of collapse last year. Inside, death threats and angry letters flooded e-mail inboxes. Irate callers lit up the phone lines. Senior managers submitted their resignations. Some employees didn’t show up at all.

With the anger and rage that is being exhibited against A.I.G., perhaps the bonuses Obama received from A.I.G. explain Obama’s A.I.G crocodile tears.

Now that the Wall street Journal has revealed that A.I.G. paid bonuses of $1 million or more to 73 employees, it’s time to ask if recipients of A.I.G. “bonuses,” including President Obama, will give what now ought to be taxpayer money back?

Michelle Malkin had a great post on this. Will a MSM reporter ask this question. If it is so wrong to pay out bonuses to AIG execs then why wasn’t it wrong to pay out a $10 million bonus to Franklin Raines at Freddie Mac? Or $2 million bonus to Jamie Gorelek at Freddie Mac? Or all the other execs at Freddie and Fannie? Hmmmmmmm? I smell a snake in the wood pile on this one!

And if congress wants to break these contracts for the bonus payouts then how come they won’t step in and break the contracts of the UAW? That would free up a lot of money for the auto companies – hmmmmm? Or would it not look right for congress to break these contracts after they took millions and millions in campaign donations from the union? HMMMM!

AIG backs (insures) the derivatives that are toxic I’ve seen one amount that said derivatives amount to 200-500 Trillion.

So perhaps the focus on the bonus’s are a way to distract us from what is really happening behind the scenes

Behind the scenes it is a mess. Most of this runs back to Goldman Sachs. The players knew this day was coming, and they reacted too late.

The actual loans in peril is a relatively small amount, but it shakes confidence in all of them.

I think BOA was leaned on behind closed doors to take Merrill Lynch by the feds; if they could stop the ML collapse they hoped to limit the damage from becoming too pervasive. ML was close to collapse when BOA took them on. It was spun in the media as a smart move, but the books did not show it. But for some reason BOA moved ahead.???

AIG is just a symptom of socialist policies being pushed into the private sector. AIG was trying to help lending banks satisfy the CRA and in doing so made some expensive mistakes.

Now the marxists on the hill and its whore media wants these private citizens to kill themselves.

Someone ask the squatter in our White House why he participated in suing Citibank to force them to give loans to people with no evidence of ability to pay?

Barney Fag has so many shortcoming why is he in any position of power within the United States? He is severely handicapped on an emotional level that his entire ability to think is infected. WHY ISN’T HE REPLACED ASAP? This is utter insanity. We have someone who has never work ONE day in his life outside government DICTATING policy and criticizing others. This country government is stuck on stupid.
