The Hill:

Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) has introduced legislation that would “bar the dollar from being replace by any foreign currency.” A statement from Bachmann’s website:

“Yesterday, during a Financial Services Committee hearing, I asked Secretary Geithner if he would denounce efforts to move towards a global currency and he answered unequivocally that he would,” said Bachmann. “And President Obama gave the nation the same assurances. But just a day later, Secretary Geithner has left the option on the table. I want to know which it is. The American people deserve to know.”

On Monday, Geithner and Bernanke both rejected the idea of a global currency in Congressional testimony. But in remarks to the Council on Foreign Relations yesterday, Geithner indicated he was open to the idea.

Having a global currency would put us even more so out of control of our economy than we already are. It would weaken our sovereignty even more and generally be a really bad thing. Why do you think the U.N. wants a global currency so badly and is pulpit pounding for the US to be a part of it? This is not difficult to figure out.

Can you imagine the value of your currency (money exchange) being totally dependent on how the whole world is doing financially? A global currency would grade everything on a curve, not by any true standard of excellence. If we are fortunate to get through this current pile of crap we’ve put ourselves under by NOT voting to put the right folks in office and NOT holding our elected officials feet to the fire, we just might be able to rebuild our economy the correct way. It’s looking more like a long-shot every day but if we grab this wild socialistic beast by the nuts, slug ‘em few times, and do what is right at mid-term elections, Obama just might be stifled long enough to vote him OUT. Geeze that sounds GREAT!

    Thank you Michelle Bachmann!

Who needs money? Try living without it.
