Because the CEO is responsible for the financial outcome of the company. He has had to juggle the union demands, competition, the economy, government regulation, and Obama breathing down his back. He’s probably relieved to be gone.

They are already giving up the Hummer to another manufacturer. It isn’t that these vehicles aren’t going to be made anymore – they just won’t be made by GM.

GM, Ford and Chrysler are in fact amazingly well-run companies. These firms are up against forces that no other companies have to face:

1.- Anti-American sentiment foisted in all areas of education and media have convinced millions that U.S. corporations are VERY BAD, that U.S. products are INFERIOR to any others, and that a Good Progressive would NEVER own an American-made vehicle.

2.- ALL other auto companies in the world have enjoyed their gov’t SUBSIDIES from day one: Jap, German, French, etc. Only now that U.S. automakers are in trouble are we arguing about the assistance that all other brands have ALWAYS enjoyed- gov’t money.

3.- General Motors has supported SOCIALISM to a an extent similar to Russia, China and Europe. The more than a million former employees on pensions are a strain on the company like no other.

Two of these three disadvantages are due to Anti-American propaganda from the left since 1965, and the scale of pensions is a hold-over from an earlier era when the entire company was doing an honorable job in providing for workers.

To “ThatOneDude”: YOU’RE FULL OF IT. My 2007 Chevy pickup is the BEST, stronger than my 1993- which the second owner just loves. I’ll help you with the math: 2009 – 1993 = 16 years and that previous truck of mine is still sweet and strong. FU. The 2007 Silverado pickup was Best Truck of the Year, and the model is still top-notch.

AND … AND – You’ll never hear it on the MSM, but GM has more products that get over 30 MPG than any other brand. The SUV’s are produced in HUGE numbers because that’s what people ARE BUYING from all makers.

Large production numbers are required in this industry. You drive a Toyota, I’ll bet. And that’s because Jap Corporations, European Corporations, Chinese and even VIETNAMESE Corporations are GOOD, while American Corporations are BAD. Right?

I’ve always been a Ford man…The Corvette is a nice GM vehicle and Cadilac, besides that only thing I can think of is a 1971 Chevy Half ton 4by4.

I don’t begrudge the guy for that. CEO’s make alot of money for a reason. Nowhere in the Constitution does it say that the government can determine or take away someone’s salary.

Hoping for a resurgence in American made automobiles. Just think if the right entrepreneur comes along – not a libtard – someone with ingenuity that loves cars…it would be awesome.
