The only thing that motivates an attack this harsh is fear. Notice also the terror-induced wishful thinking about the Holy Grail of modern elections, the swing voter: “He’s angering the non-partisan.” He does this to plant the seed in Rush’s mind that he should stop doing what is actually succesful, because, as he lies, “it is alienating swing voters.” The exact opposite is true, but that’s why he says it. He’s trying to both scare Rush off of his successful talking points, and he’s actually trying to tell mindless swing voters that they should indeed be put off by Rush’s statements.

    You can’t help but to smile, joke at almost anything if you want to, and be happy when you know you’re right. Rush is the guy with a good sense of humor and still be serious when the time is right to be serious along with being funny; there’s a time and place for everything.
