Raw: 16-Year-Old Beats Bus Driver

Mar 5, 2009 A Michigan woman drives students to school each day, but on Tuesday her morning route became a violent nightmare. Police say the driver became the victim of a student’s rage, and instead of driving the bus to school, she was rushed to the hospital.
The Kalamazoo school-bus driver is recovering after being badly beaten. Police say a 16-year-old male repeatedly punched the driver i More..n the face and head.
The teenager, who is being held at a juvenile center, is charged with assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder.
CBS affiliate WWMT looked into the boy’s record, and while his face can’t be shown or his name revealed because he is a juvenile, it was learned that the boy has been charged with five assaults going back to 2005. Sources told WWMT that several of the victims in those cases were teachers or workers at the teen’s school.
The bus driver who was assaulted on Tuesday is a veteran bus driver who was filling in on a route. Police say some of the students on the bus became agitated when she made a stop where there were no students.
At that point the 16-year-old got out of his seat, and despite the driver repeatedly telling the teen to sit down, he continued to yell at her, took off his jacket and walked to the front of the bus.
As the student threatened her, the driver grabbed the radio to call for help, and the beating began.
“It was very violent,” Kalamazoo Township Police Chief Tim Bourgeois said of the beating. “First punch that’s followed by repeated punching to the head; at that point she is trying to cover her head with her hands.”
As the attack continued, another student tried to stop it, but the suspect curses at him, pushes him away, and continues the assault.
Eventually students managed to push the suspect toward the back of the bus, allowing the driver to get on the radio and make a call on her cell.
The suspect got off the bus and fled the scene before police arrived. When officer’s questioned the remaining students on the bus, they refused to give any information. Police eventually tracked the 16-year-old suspect to his home in Kalamazoo.
The victim told WWMT that she broke her hand while trying to fend off the teen and that the attack also left her with broken blood vessels in her eye.

As a day job I drive a school bus. I drive special-ed kids by choice, so I have usually 3 or 4, not more than 8 well behaved special-needs kids.
I gave up driving a big bus years ago only because of the noise factor. (Hard to concentrate even when all are behaving.)
I want to believe that this incident is quite unusual. But perhpas I am wrong in this assumption.
That kid needs to have his hands broken and his knees capped asap…

Yup, it really looks like that evil white bus driver did something unforgivable and asked for that beating. Junior has been charged with agg assault with intent to commit great bodily harm less than murder, but sadly in Michigan the hug a thug program is in effect so prison time is unlikely. The whole thing is sickening.
