Another Productive Plan: “Can A Brotha Get A Break” Florida License plate?

TALLAHASSEE — Fighting a Republican move to approve religiously oriented specialty license tags, and bitter about proposed salary cuts for state workers, Senate Democratic Leader Al Lawson has a specialty tag idea of his own.
Worried about the separation of church and state, Democratic critics are incensed about one proposed tag that would feature an image of Christ on the cross.
Lawson’s amendment to SB 2326 is called, “Can A Brotha Get a Break License Plate.”
“The plate must prominently display an image of state Senator Alfred ‘Al’ Lawson, Jr. The phrase ‘Can a Brotha Get a Break?’ shall appear in bold letters on the bottom of the plate.”
Proceeds from the plate would go to, “Employees Relief Fund for the purpose of offsetting salary and benefit cuts by the Legislature and providing grief counseling.”
The amendment doesn’t mention that Lawson is running for Congress next year.

Now, typically, Pat would have us write our comments in bold black. From this line forward is my commentary and opinion.
This is my opinion, based on the observations that I have made over the previous years of my life, lived mostly as a “sidelines” type of guy, rooting the team on with whatever support I could give, mostly through what little input I am able to put in, with the “team” being our country and way of life.
The posting of this article, prior to my comment is simply to demonstrate a point. If one were to forget entirely that one had seen my picture at any point in time, and base my comments on substance, one would find that the ideological values placed in the way I speak to, the way I interact with, and the way I treat other people are exactly the way I prefer to be treated. Call it religiously based, call it what you want, but my core beliefs are that we treat other humans as though we want to be treated ourselves. Reap what you sow kind of thing.
For those folks that visit this site that can be considered to be “on the fence” and just poking around for the purpose of figuring out how others think, as a basis of understanding, I will attempt to describe the mentality behind what we, as a group are trying to accomplish for an entire society of citizens. To most who will read this, this will be a “preaching to the choir” type of thing.
I have, over a period of time, become an individual who can be quite pessimistic. It is unlike me to be so. Thinking back, I have been the one guy that everyone could look to who would say, “It’s gonna be fine, man, relax.” and mean it. Right now, as I sit here typing these words, I find that the words in that phrase have simply been turned into just words. If you pay attention to what people say at any given time, you can start to produce a pattern of logic behind what they say, and their words take on a deeper meaning than simple definition. When I used to utter the phrase, “It’s gonna be fine, man, relax.” I meant it on a level that no matter what happens, has happened, or could happen, we as human beings will still be human beings, water will still be wet, the sky is blue, and as long as we remember who we are, nothing matters, it will all handle itself. This may sound somewhat simplistic, somewhat religious, or somewhat asinine to some of you. That’s fine, it is what it is.
The one thing that I have always believed is that no matter who you are, what religion you choose, where you choose to live, what your skin pigmentation happens to be, or what your ancestor’s origins were, people are people. Unless a group of people decide to drop all pretense, and treat each other as human beings, without ego involved, without retribution for perceived wrongs involved, and without the preconceived ideas that subjects such as someone’s skin pigmentation matters, then the entire group of people are subject to a miserable existence, as a group of people. The internal divisions will continue, eventually splintering the group of people into groups characterized by the individual group identity and not the overall group identity. Moving forward to the current state of our country, one can begin to see where I am going with my previous statements.
In this country, The United States of America, there have been many instances where wrongs were committed upon citizens, granted. Those instances were, through time and persistence, clarified, rectified, and placed into the American psyche as detrimental to the foundation of the country, and rightfully so. With that said, there is always an element to any given situation that certain personality types just can’t let go of the past, and at times don’t care about the past but care only about utilizing every tool at their disposal to further their agendas and enrich themselves doing so.
The ideology that there exists within the Conservative movement an underlying racist tone full of rednecks, hillbillies, ignorance, and bitterness is an example of a tool being used to demonize a group of people, by another group of people who simply can not agree on the best practices for our country politically. This snowball has been pushed down a hill, and it is perpetuating into an avalanche in front of our very eyes. Given the circumstance of today’s society, and the complexities of interaction between all people in our society, it is quite difficult for all parties to agree all of the time, yet it is not impossible for all parties to at least discuss the issues and share an understanding of the issues amongst the various parties.
This leads me to the point of the left wing agenda. I am not the only person who has voiced what I am about to voice publicly. Neal Boortz has demonstrated quite effectively through his book “The Terrible Truth About Liberals”. In Mr. Boortz’s book, he describes the propensity for the liberal mindset in this country to rely heavily upon grouping people together into neat and tidy categories. These categories can be based on religion, race, creed, etc. The propensity to apply grouping to individuals is not some inbred desire, or instinctive action. It is a designed and intelligent application of propaganda techniques utilizing the basic emotions of human beings.
The leftist liberal mindset is intentional and calculated. One of the main goals of the leftist liberal agenda is to keep the people that you and I would imagine to be nothing more than the average people in this country in fear of, angry at, and confrontational toward each other in order to press forward any item of consequence that the leftist liberal agenda dictates, including taxation based on the fallacy that “the rich keep getting richer off of the poor”, etc. If by using racial tension the leftist liberal agenda gets moved forward, they shall utilized it as a primary tool as often as possible. In essence they will use the very people they purport to protect and discard them handily when their goals are reached. It happens time and again, yet the very victims of their usage get right back in line to perpetuate the cycle each and every time. Why? Because the use of these people includes a stiff application of bondage in the form of dependency. The left enjoys dependency. Why? Because it creates for them the basic desire in their subjects to help them succeed for the sole purpose of self preservation. If one could turn the heads of half of the victims of this senseless game, they would see just how easy it would be for them to succeed without that dependency. Without the restrictive structure, human beings have a tendency to grow, and continue to do so until they are laid to rest. A subjugated people simply exist.
It is through this very concept that we have the economy in shambles. It is through this very concept that we have people like Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson, both hypocritical bigots in their own right, who have distorted the pure and valiant messages that Dr. Martin Luther King moved forward. The very statement that Dr. King made, “…based on the content of their character, and not the color of their skin…” is the most often forgotten phrase uttered by the man when it comes to the race baiting and extortionist propaganda that Jackson and Sharpton place at our feet. By stirring these emotional coals, they invite racism to take over the very people to whom they preach. This, my friends, is intentional.
I want nothing more than to live a life in this country without the constant reminders that people are different. It is blatantly apparent that we are all different. That is why we are called a society and not called a cult. A society is made up of all types of people from the actor to the scientist and everything in between. It is only through political propagandizing of the notion that the opposing side is “racist” or “fascist” etc. that these people can exist in our society without being tarred and feathered. It is time to get past this, and move on to live true to our words. Our words being The Constitution of The United States of America and the Declaration of Independence. Where all men are created equal and possess God given unalienable rights. Each of us, not just the select few.
Call it a pipe dream, but I hope for a day when all parts of society can get past the institutionalized propaganda such as the race baiting found in the above article. I pray for a day we can sit down and discuss differences with others without resorting to throwing fake blood on someone, shouting each other down, race baiting or simply demanding that the other side of the issue dry up and blow away. It truly is, by the way, the only way to move forward without losing what we hold dear.
“Can an American get a break?”
