Gibbs: Being Tough With Terrorists Kills American Troops – With Video

Robert Gibbs said the continued use of Bush-era harsh interrogation tactics threatened the lives of American troops who may face retribution from the country’s enemies.

Appearing on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” the White House press secretary cited comments from National Security Adviser and former Marine General Jim Jones that, “It is difficult to keep the men and women in uniform defending our country safe because of the use of these enhanced interrogation techniques.”

He also cited outside experts who have said that the use of what some call torture has become use of a “rallying cry for those who wanted to kill us.”

Repeating the White House’s mantra, Gibbs told moderator David Gregory that the tactics weren’t needed to protect American soil.

“Our country doesn’t have to choose between keeping our people safe and the values that make us America,” Gibbs said.

He added: “There are things this country just simply doesn’t do, David.”

    Let’s compare, what is torture having some water run down your nose, or what was done to Pfc. Menchaca and Pfc. Tucker of the 502nd. For those that are unaware, here is a description:

    “Three days after the soldiers went missing, searchers found their bodies in Yusifiya, about 12 miles south of Baghdad, near where they’d been captured. They were burnt, tied together and booby-trapped with explosives. Menchaca’s throat had been split. Tucker had been decapitated.”

    From what I was told, the bodies were in much worse shape.

    its obvious he speaks from experience! the fucken coward probably never set foot in a combat zone when shit was happening!!! I hate these poser douche bags…they are the terrorists of our country and its their actions that put troops at risk….hmmm…..lets talk about the stringent ROE that was placed on troops in 2004 to 2006….that was brought on by the shit house know it all lawyers that work for these traitors….they care more about their careers than the troops lives, fucken makes me sick!

    im very patriotic, i love my country, but our country is full of corruption and filth, fear and stupidity. The american people HAVE GOT TO DO SOMETHING, we have to take a stand because no one else in our government gives two shits. im fucking sick of it. im staging a coup. what happened to the U.S. that was respected? that was actually “for the people”? i hate to sound like a bitch, but i fear in my lifetime were going to be screwed unless we get some commonsense back into peoples heads. theres a lot wrong with this country, and i want to see the united states be great again.
