    All nail guns, hammers and blunt objects were made subject to Federal Government Registration. Full-auto nail guns and power staplers were banned outright. Further discussions and legislation will focus upon ‘serial numbers’ printed on all nails in the future, and records kept as to who purchased them and when. Immediately following this press report, the Los Angeles City Council banned the sales of all nails within the city limits, unless the purchaser was undocumented.

    In related news, the price of Acme and Wilmers Glue Stocks shot higher on the news.

    Today on Capitol Hill, in open session, Barney Frank was outwardly distressed, verbally abusive and furious at the thought of ‘Lee Press On Nails’ being defaced with government serial numbers. An astonished AP reporter patiently explained to him that ‘roofing nails’ and not ‘fake finger nails’ were being legislated. He let out an audible sigh of relief, and then farted.
