Murtha Gets $150 Million Dollars For Self-Named Airport That Flies 20 People A Day

ABC News: The federal government provides a subsidy for every flight into the Murtha Airport of about $100 dollars per passenger, but even with the subsidy, there are plenty of empty seats. On a visit to the airport, ABC News found it virtually deserted, with an empty restaurant, vacant lounges and empty runways. An air traffic controller was twiddling his thumbs. Thanks to Murtha, there is a Pennsylvania National Guard training facility located at the airport, but its personnel fly helicopters, not airplanes.

      I am sure a bunch would love to change the name to Johnson City Regional Airport, which I am almost positive was old name.

    Certain dems must be wanting to get rid of murtha and ok’d the piece on him. Otherwise it would have never been show. Or notice how it ran after he and other dems were reelected. They believe everyone will forget by the next election, but abc will still say hey we ran a story on pork.

    This is not as much a story about Murtha and this airport as a HIT PIECE on small airports and GA airports.

    Look at the fact that ABC, CNN, Yahoo, MSNBC have all ran this story on this airport, even though they really love Murtha….Question It. Why Hurt Small Airports??

    Business Aviation is tanking far worse than auto industry, and stuff like this is causing it. This is a ‘misinformation’ story to cause people to hate small airports. This is an anti-airport, anti-aviation, anti-commuter airlines story, plain & simple.

    This is my field….I work in fueling airplanes. Lots of FBOs and small aircraft repair places going out of business.

    AT LEAST $2 BILLION-$3 BILLION in business plane sales and refubs have stopped since January!!!! Saw a good response to Real Revo posting this story.

    Trust me please….this is my career that the media is fucking with now.

    It appears that the was changed to add ‘MURTHA’ ONLY IN LAST COUPLE OF WEEKS…AROUND APRIL 15TH OR SO.

    Old name on the airport was still Johnstown-Cambria County Airport on 4/13/09 when USA today did a anti-airport story.

    Last Month….big Hit Pieces on ALL Media on HOW TO SHUT DOWN GA AVIATION.

    Our industry saw the cancelation of almost 200 aircraft buys with a week after media started their crap.

    On the books there were 47 cancelations sales of new G-Vs, Hawker 800, Cessna Citations, and resales of Bombardiers and Hawkers, etc.

    Have older brother in “south” and their company had 4 Turboprops that they flew Execs and QC folks to all of the plants every other week. Media came around doing “expose” on Business A/C showing N-numbers on TV and trying to do phone calls to companies, claiming with Obama in office, airplanes were too much of a luxury……it worked, they sold all of them (as did a bunch more pressured by MSM tactics). Their local airport is now about to die.

    Now, QCs go around once a quarter and Execs once a month…Fly commercial & drive about 6 hrs to-and-from Air Carrier Airports each day on trip.
    Company now figures almost 40-60 hrs man-hours lost for each QC’s and Exec during travel days since change.

    WHY IS MEDIA TRYING TO KILL AVIATION……
    IS IT TO MAKE IT LIKE IT WAS WHERE ONLY THE ULTRA-RICH, COMMUNIST-PARTY (OBAMA SUPPORTERS) CAN FLY OR HAVE PRIVATE JETS???
