Very familiar with Aligator gar. It is quite normal to catch 6 feet long fish of this species right were people swim.

yep. Kermit’s got it in one. Where I live we “hand-fish” for catfish. Avg catfish we take is between 30 and 50 lbs. But every once in a while you’ll get alligator gars shoot down the stream with torpedo speeds. Don’t let them graze you. One opened my brother up like a razor.
