Texodus: What Would Happen If They Really Did It?

The Canada Free Press: Recently Governor Rick Perry rattled the cages in Washington when he suggested that Texas might at some point be so disgusted with Washington’s repeated violations of the United States Constitution that they might want to secede from the union. It stems from the one amendment to the Constitution that gets the least attention - the Tenth Amendment.
The Tenth Amendment enumerates the rights of the states and the people. Specifically it states that the powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people. Shortly after Virginia ratified the Constitution back in 1788, New York and Rhode Island made similar claims to their ratification document.
On June 26, 1788, Virginia’s elected delegates met to ratify the Constitution. In their ratification document, they said, “The People of Virginia declare and make known that the powers granted under the Constitution being derived from the People of the United States may be resumed by them whensoever the same shall be perverted to their injury or oppression and that every power not granted thereby remains with them and at their will.”
The original states made it clear that if the federal government exceeded the delegated rights, they had the right to implement their rights. If every state did not think it had the right to secede, there never would have been a union. Thomas Jefferson said, “Whensoever the General Government assumes undelegated powers, its acts are unauthoritative, void, and of no force.”
On April 15, 2009, at a Tea Party in Texas, Governor Rick Perry said, “I believe that our federal government has become oppressive in its size, its intrusion into the lives of our citizens, and its interference with the affairs of the state. That is why I am here today to express my unwavoring support for efforts all across our country to reaffirm the states’ rights affirmed by the Tenth Amendment to the United States Constitution.”
It will be up to the legal scholars and practicing attorneys to determine if reaffirming the Tenth Amendment will lead to secession by Texas, which has a very long history of being independent - both before and since inclusion into the United States of America. If it were to happen, what would it mean to the United States, Texas and the citizens of both?
First of all, if there truly was a nation called Texas run under the principles of the original Constitution and a remainder of the United States moving in the direction it is currently headed, there would a massive immigration to the new state of Texas. Assuming Texas would accept the large immigration movement from other U.S. states, there would be a construction and real estate boom in Texas like the world has never seen before.
Despite melt-your-sidewalk hot summers in most of the state, people would want to move there in droves. The air conditioning business would be another growth industry. For those who think there is just too much desert land in the state of Texas, one only has to look at what the nation of Israel has done with sand. Israel has done it without any natural resources; Texas has oil.
Within a very few years, Texas would become what the new burgeoning country of the American colonies were to England some 220 years ago. Once Texas and the United States worked out the conditions for secession, no doubt the contiguous state of Oklahoma and the nearby states of Kansas, Wyoming and Nebraska would join in.
Imagine once again living in a country that endorsed free enterprise. Responsibility would again rule supreme over entitlement. Freedom of speech would be reinstated - even on college campuses. No one would trifle with the Second Amendment. Immigration laws woul be enforced; amnesty would be offered to former citizens of the old United States, but not to those who invade the country illegally.
Comparing the direction the United States is going with the re-infusion of constitutional values of the New Republic of Texas, it would not be many decades before the United States closely resembles the current stagnating European Union while Texas would resemble the United States that followed the Reagan Revolution where we experienced a quarter of century of economic progress (1982-2007).
In foreign affairs, we could initiate a new world body of Free and Democratic Countries United (FDCU). Countries that endorse freedom, democracy and free enterprise could join. Initial countries might include Ireland, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, Israel, Switzerland, Poland, and Texas. If the old United States later returns to the principles of freedom and free enterprise, they might be considered eligible for admittance.
Assuming former states of the old United States joined the New Republic of Texas, they would probably be low-crime states with strong illegal immigration rules, so substantially fewer tax dollars would have to be allocated to crime prevention. One of the first goals of the new country would be to become energy independent within 10 years. The new country would work closely with the French in having them show Texas how to get 80% of their energy from nuclear power.
On the military front, Texas would create an alliance with Israel, promising to support them in exchange for their training the Texas military how to deal with terrorists. Much like what happened with Great Britain, once the dust settled, the old United States would undoubtedly be willing to protect its former subjects.
On the fiscal front, Texas would pass as their first piece of legislation that there never will be an Internal Revenue Service. The Texas Fair Tax would be implemented immediately. The Fair Tax is a comprehensive tax plan that replaces all federal income and payroll-based taxes with an integrated approach including a progressive national retail sales tax, a prebate to ensure no American pays federal taxes on spending for housing, food, schooling or medical care. Since the New Republic of Texas would be working from the original United States Constitution, the 16th Amendment would be immediately repealed.
There would be no Departments of Housing and Urban Development, Labor, Education, Agriculture, Health and Human Services, or Energy. Initial federal government spending would be mandated at no more than 50% the current rate of the old United States government. A balanced budget would be mandated. The president would have a line-item veto.
Current Social Security would be phased-out over a 30-year period. Those currently age 60 or over would not be impacted. The Retirement age would be gradually raised to age 70 for those between 50 and 59. Those on Social Security would no longer pay into the Social Security System - no matter how much they earned.
Social Security would be replaced by a mandated 401k Type system where the federal government would match contributions of workers up to 5% of their pay. Anything beyond that is optional. The Estate Tax exemption would immediately be raised to $10 million ($20 million for a married couple) - increased annually by the CPI. The tax on estates over the exemption amount would be a flat 25%.
There would be a federal system for those declared mentally ill or disabled where they would be guaranteed a social service minimum income. Those who are able-bodied will work in a government-sponsored workfare programs. These jobs would be for the common welfare - cleaning up cities and roads, janitorial work in government facilities, assisting at the Departments of Motor Vehicles, etc.
Medical care would be handled on a four tier basis: Those currently covered under an employee-based PPO system, those currently covered under an employee-based HMO system, those currently covered under individually-insured health plans, and government clinics. Due to the elimination of the various departments of government, there would be plenty of facilities available for health care clinics. Doctors, nurses and technicians would be hired by the federal government to cover those who do not have one of the three insurance plans above.
K-12 education would be mandated. Truancy would be enforced. Government schools would be supplemented by charter schools and voucher programs, setting up a system of competition in the school system. Technology would dominate the educational system, and home schooling would skyrocket. Education would once again be about students instead of teachers and administrators.
No corporation nor union would be allowed to contribute to a politician or any political cause. No company nor labor union would be allowed to encourage political support for a cause or issue. No company nor labor union would be allowed to encourage its employees to demonstrate on behalf of a candidate or political cause.
It wouldn’t be long before the New Republic of Texas had a GDP per capita of 10-30% higher than the old United States. The only problem is that Texas may not have enough land to house all of the people desirous of moving to this new country.

I would move there is what would happen.
YERMOM would race you there.
I don’t anything about the author, but I object to the countries he wants to ally with, “Ireland, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, Israel, Switzerland, Poland, and Texas.”
Israel, yes. Georgia, Poland, yes. Beware of foreign entanglements.
where do I sign!
They would also build at least 2 new nuke plants for the increase in electrical usage. So they would need some engineers. Time for me to move.
YERMOM did a stint on a fast Attack in the early 90’s as a nuke mechanic in the engine room. time to dig the resume out.
Sorry to say but when those Subs left Pearl, Us surface pukes went after your wife’s like white on rice. Most told us to F-Off, But a few got thru.
was only on a sub base (Grotton CT) and I chose an old boat that didnt go out that much…. spent most of the time in, short runs, or in defueling….
and at the time YERMOM’s wife was way to into me to worry about that.
but yeah I know it happened alot…. (and sub guys chased surface guys wives too)
Thomas Jefferson said, “Whensoever the General Government assumes undelegated powers, its acts are unauthoritative, void, and of no force.”
yeah tell that to the current federal government and the agencies working to support and keep them in power!
I love Texas!
-aTb
mabey AR would join
Everybody would join except for the festering shitholes like NYC, Detroit, Los Angeles, Southern California, Seattle, Portland and places that allow gay marriage. Call it a divesting of poorly performing investments.Or culling the herd.
As for “workfare,” I object. That’s a slippery slope as we’ve already seen. You might employ such a scheme but what stops bums from convincing doctors to declare them mentally challenged? It would be better to give tax deductions to tax payers equal to the charitable donations which they make (i.e. if Joe gives $10 to charity, that’s $10 he doesn’t have to pay in taxes).
In regards to fears of insufficient land, I would recommend including all of heartland America with states like Arizona, Colorado, Utah, Montana, the Dakotas, and other generally conservative states. To be barred would be New Mexico, states in the Rust Belt, Flori-duh, Louisiana, etc.
More needs to be said of taxation. If you want to promote an economic boom, lower the corporate tax rate. While the Old US has a tax rate of 35%, Ireland has a rate of 12.5% and is the fastest-growing nation in Europe. We could do at least as well. We might even eliminate corporate taxes - why pay twice on a person’s income? Regardless, I would support a Fair Tax.
These are good first steps towards pure laissez faire Capitalism, which should be the ultimate goal of a free society. However, I disagree with the a few items. The medical plan is immoral. It’s not governments job to insure people. The fair tax should not be progressive. Estate taxes should be completely repealed. Finally, mandating savings is another moral evil. People must be free to succeed or fail based on their individual ability. Overall, good ideas, but they fall too short.
In fairness to SC….Lincoln started that war. But those “Sandlappers” had the backbone we need today.
I gotta toss in NC. First in Freedom!
The first colonial government to declare liberty from England in 1775 and the first colonial government to take action in early 1776 to remove the rule of England.
Don’t forget The battle of Kings Mountain.
And as Cornwallis noted, best stay out of Charlotte, it is a hornets nest of rebellion.
Texas could become Galt’s Gulch.
Your comments regarding Kings Mountain remind me of an early-1980s Movie called ‘Sweet Liberty’ with Alan Alda and Michael Caine about Kings Mountain and Battle of Cowpens. I would love to come to NC and explore that world.
Was at Biltmore area near Ashville around 1990, and never got to to Kill Devil Hills (which was supposed to be reason for the trip).
Two thot’s come to mind–
I believe the article implies that Texas would opt out of the UN-if not, that should be a stated goal.
In the near future, Obama is going to have to start factoring into his “thinking” whether or not such and such an action will accelerate the secession.
great read…food for much thought
Actually, all that has to be done to bring the country and the world to its knees is for less than 0.002% of the total population to “Go Galt” Specifically, the refinery, ammonia plant, & ethylene plant worker to walk off in only Texas and Louisiana. This is less than 2% of the population of those states.
In a very short period of time, there would not be enough food (fertilizer), pharmaceuticals, plastics, paint, fuel, lube oil (including KY), soap, detergent, and a LOT of other stuff.
Go for it!!!!Ready to weather the storm.
just give us a heads up so we can stock pile the KY
Stockpile Kentucky?
Kermitt “VERY SMART” man, woman or frog (???)still pretty darn sharp. BUT WHO??? of those that Could which Will???
I grew up in orlando moved to Baytown Tx 28 years ago-stayed 10 years and then moved back to Orlando. The biggest impressions of that GREAT STATE and it’s people was their hearts, always as big if not bigger that the state. And there was never any limit to where they were willing to go because “they all LIVE and truely BELEIVE IT IS ALWAYS BIGGER IN TEXAS” shit you not, when I first moved there it was culture shock, scary stuff for a girl who grew up in the city, just the way that EVERYONE young, old, rich, poor, cute, ugly, white, black, mexican decent—-Did not matter.Same mind set. “IT IS ALWAYS BIGGER IN TEXAS” Get with it or get OUT!!! End of their story, and time for you to get it OR just go back to where you came from, they don’t want you… But the other side is, if you tried to get it, even if it was scary to you they understood, it was strange to you and your way of thinking, But they alwasys stood up for you, and educatued you on how it is in Texas, ” YOU’RE NOT Dorathy and this is NOT OZ”
have heard that quite a few different times, but they really meant it, AND there is NO DOUBT in my mind they all still pretty much think like that.
Don’t forget Oklahoma. They consistently register 65% Republican, of course Republican doesn’t mean what it used to, still, most people in Oklahoma have good conservative values.
If Texas goes I would not be surprised to see several other states pull the plug as well.
Oklahoma was the first state to file a 10th Amendment “Don’t Treat on Me” threat a year ago because the feds were saying the illegal immigration law they enacted wasn’t legal. If the new Democrat governor is still enforcing the immigration law, the illegals self-deport.
A just as easy method with disastrous effects everywhere east of the Rockies would be the shutdown of a few “Hubs” of the natural gas coming out of the Gulf of Mexico, particularly in the middle of winter. Just the ones in Louisiana would be sufficient and MOST EFFECTIVE.
Quick Question Kermit, out of all the oil refineries in Texas City, Baytown, Galveston,Corpus Cristi-Are there any that are still owned by American Intrest folks? What about Brown and Root? Any info on this. You do have Great ways to make them squirm–but with most people today–that paycheck means the difference between house, car, cell, cable bills.
HMmmmm… I think the article is getting way ahead of its self. Once the gov. (House & Senate)decides to leave the union. Theyd better have a military, and ready to fight. I really dont see the US letting Texas just leave and start its own country, without a fight. Just my 2 cents.
It would be worth researching where all the military personnel come from, particularly the NCO’s and officers at the captain through colonel ranks or equivalent.
That is something that happened with the onset of the Civil War. It took a few years for the North to train enough men to replace the key slots vacated by Southern born members of the military. If the South had gone on the offensive at the outset, rather than played a defensive role, we would likely have at least Canada, USA and CSA as nations north of Mexico.
I would pack up and move to Texas in a second if this came about. I would most likely lose my Navy Retirement but it may be worth it in the long run. But I would remain in Kansas should Kansas join the new Republic.
I’d stay in Kansas as long as they got off the .GOV Tit and let me keep my weaponry. Otherwise I would pack up and head to a Constitution abiding Free State.
As I have lots of family in Texas, I’d happily move down there if this were to happen, but I agree that KS would likely follow OK in joining TX so I probably wouldn’t have to go anywhere.
I think I’ll start buying land in our new Republic!! LOL
I was lucky enough to have witnessed Gov. Perry at the Arlington Texas tea party, he was fired up! He’s got my vote! Alas we’ll never cede from the nation, our only hope is to vote the commie thieves out as soon as possible. Or prove the usurper in chief was born in Kenya. How’s that lawsuit coming along?
The dictatorship newly installed in the nation’s capitol will not be swayed nor removed by elections. It is folly to believe they can be voted out. As Pat explained, their priority of investigating and prosecuting the former administration proves they will never again give up power in a peaceful manner, because they would all then face similar prosecution. They have taken a one-way course, and peaceful “change” is out of the question.
I agree Reloader 100% and get frusterated when people talking about “voting” thats so old world now.
obongo is trasforming this country into the new world where we will be taken care of by the leader and “first mom”
I have heard too many references now in the black community that they are glad to have to never have to look at another white president again and that get used to it because he is not going anywhere.
I guess it is common knowledge among blacks and widely accepted that America has a dictator.
kinda like those pirates–can not be peaceful no matter which way you try to cut it.
I believe that in his second term, The One will ask Congress to change the law limiting the two term requirement for President. He will be able to run FOREVER!!
Be Ready to come to Texas, but bring your guts and guns!!
This is a Texas Comment, but also Flu crap.
CDC reports Death of 2-yr old from flu. Really Where?
No local news reports it, and CDC will not say what city or hospital….Sounds like Obama crap with his birth certificate!!
Obama is doing Media War on flu as fake alert stuff like a ‘Wag The Dog’ Flu War.
Yes, there may really be a bad flu here, but WE HAVE TO SEE in to the Fakeness of it all.
‘Really Where?’
Good point. Might be a bit out there, but how do we know there is actually a flu and people are dead? Is it fact or fiction? What is our basis for believing it is happening? Do you know anyone that has been infected virus? Do you anyone who knows some one with this virus?
We base it on the news we hear, which is propagated by the MSM.
Now considering how the MSM covered the election and continues to cover Obama……how much trust can you put into what the MSM reports?
How much of the reporting is fact and how much is of it is Heir Goebbels type propaganda?
You should also ask yourself, what would I do to stop the spread of a dangerous virus and look at what measures the administration has taken thus far. Thus far the administration has given us chin boogie, face time with a lot of contradicting remarks and statements.
I am not saying this virus doesn’t exist and isn’t running it course, but rather you have to look at what Obama has already done, what he has done to accomplish it and what he might to do to continue the progress of his agenda.
Personally I don’t put anything past him.
There are more than enough first-hand descriptions and direct conversations with people whose family members or co-workers in the southwest are getting sick in significant numbers to be convinced that the flu in question is not a fabrication of the Gov’t/Media/Academia propaganda machine.
Then why isn’t the border closed and travel restrictions put in place? Would it stop the spread? Not entirely, but it would help.
As it stands they are telling us there could be a catastrophic problem, but hey, don’t worry about it until we have 6ft of water in the basement.
And while we’ve all been distracted by H1N1, the House Passes $3.4 Trillion Budget Enabling Obama To Establish National Health Care……….go figure.
Reloader 449,
Yes, I know there really is a flu or flu-like major sickness in my town. But I have not met anyone that sick, knows directly of anybody that sick, or even seen pictures from hospitals of anyone sick. News here is just saying “believe us” that it is happening.
But Paslode is correct about “slight of hand” reporting. 90% of TV news devoted to this, and very little other news reported….then Weather and Sports and We’ll see you back here at next news time, Bye.
And Congress passes Anti-Free Speech/Anti-Christian Pro-Gay Hate Law and more shit like that.
2 year old Mexican boy in Houston. He was sick in Mexico and came to Houston for the medical facilities. God rest his soul and sympathy to the families invovled and related.
Again I am not saying there is not a flu because I do not know any more than I have been feed through the media. And most of you fall into that same catagory.
What I do know as ‘fact’ is that the hospital my wife works, which is in near vicinty of 2 of the ‘reported’ cases, which gets the patients no one else wants including illegals, has taken no steps and no discussion what so ever regarding this virus.
It is a mute subject were my wife works.
Considering WHO has up’d the alert level DEFCON 5 you would think that if this were of such importance any and all hospital staff would have been prepped and they have not been.
Who is at DEFCON 5, yet the border isn’t closed, travel isn’t restricted, there are no quarantined areas and my wife has not been alerted to anything.
Sounds to me like the present day drama driven weathermen freaking out about the ‘common place’ thunderstorms that have occurred in Kansas as long as I can remember.
Well written Erik! Let’s do it. It willtake years to undue the mess Obama has already created. Instead of waiting till he is out of office and most of the country is either ruined or very fucked up, let us start clean. As far as the influx of people, we will manage somehow. Mexico has plenty of unused land. We have helped them for years. Now they could repay all of the favors in kind. I would support this idea. As long a Obama and the libs are running things, America , as we know it , is dead!
One more thing to add to Texas Constitution :
.
No Lobbying By ANY Special Interest or Foreign Goverment. NO Voice should be any louder than that of THE PEOPLE!
That might keep the Lawyers in check
That old Charlie Daniels song about the “the south’s gonna do it again…”
Rick Perry should worry more about the bursting Border first before creating new Borders. We got the first Mexican pig flu death reported in the Country and it was an Illegal alien Toddler……
Im sure we are going to now have to let every third World shithead in here for treatment.
If Texas left PLEASE Nebraska GO WITH! Otherwise I am moving out. Maybe if Texas leaves a shit ton of states will go with, a New Confederacy?
I seriously think other like-minded states would follow. They’ve already followed each others’ lead by filing the 10th Amendment threat. Definitely Oklahoma, Nebraska, Kansas, Wyoming, the South -FL, Alaska. With Texas, Oklahoma and Alaska you’ve got energy resources, and Alaska’s pipeline.
Eat your tongue SolomomPal, we’re from SoCal and we hate the left wing corn holers who run this state. And yes, we would move. Was once married to a Texan forf 10 years and Texans are great.
Nothing personal cuchieddie…get out while you still can…
The first law of the new constitution of the nation of Texas should ban any lawyers from participating in the government whatsoever, its a conflict of interest. Do we really need lawyers splitting hairs about what is and is not permissible? I’ll trust the mailman, plumber, carpenter etc. with common sense.
Right you are Bob. The Constitution wasn’t written in the language of lawyers or for lawyers, it was written in plain English so the common man could read and comprehend it.
Lawyers foul things up with their “artistic rhetoric.”
The “missing” 13th Amendment to the Constitution of the United States reads as follows:
“If any citizen of the United States shall accept, claim, receive, or retain any title of nobility or honour, or shall without the consent of Congress, accept and retain any present, pension, office, or emolument of any kind whatever, from any emperor, king, prince, or foreign power, such person shall cease to be a citizen of the United States, and shall be incapable of holding any office of trust or profit under them, or either of them.”
Imagine our government without lawyers.
More here; http://freedomintelligence.wordpress.com/2009/04/21/what-if-lawyers-were-forbidden-from-holding-political-office-the-real-13th-amendment-exposed/
You are so right about how the 13th amendment was “JUST” dropped, with the new printing of the constituion way back when—-AND NO ONE SAID A DAMN WORD ABOUT IT!!!!! Because we are all taught to think you HAVE to have an atty. to speak up. So that answers the question of why no one did speak up and it was never bought up either. Just sweept in under the rug people are so stupid no one will even notice.
And damn if they were not right. But kuddos to you stgJenz for being one of the few and one of the brave.
God Bless Texas
As a Texas resident of 20 years: Ya’ll welcome here!
I have always dreamed of a Northern Free Territory, ie, Wis, Minn, the Dakotas, Montana, Wyoming, Nebraska, Iowa linking up to the North of that area. We just have a couple problem areas in the Madison and Twin Cities areas. Perhaps make them isolated penal colonies.
you know….I have been scrolling through all the posts and began to think how everyone in the country is playing into the usurpers plan…he wants to dismantle the country and that he is doing very well….and we are allowing this to happen!!!! whether we play into it or sit back and not…either way we are lost, the only thing now is to be focused on protecting the Constitution from this evil that has purported our Government and our msm!!! May God be with us in this endeavor.
-aTb
He can dismantle the country. This theoretical move breaks up Manifest Destiny.
BUT…it would only be temporary. The population shift of hard-working, educated Americans to these free territories would leave other states with the bottom of the barrel. They’d be maxed out on welfare programs and ne’er do-gooders. They would toss these Marxist bums out eventually and then the conversation would be about reconiliation.
You also see how The One’s temper flares. His speech in Missouri and his reaction to the Tea Parties…he doesn’t like it. Under the surface, he is a very angry man who has learned at the feet of other very angry people. He would react with military force to stop this. He’d really have no choice.
The reaction of the rest of the world to this would be interesting. Who would our allies side with? Would the UK and EU side with Texas or the US? Would our enemies connive to continue to attempt to carve us up? In some country’s cases, a dis-United States is certainly in their best interests.
Europe would side with the (old) USA, the Marxists, because they are Marxists. Their campaign of hatred against Bush, Iraq and the USA is a lot of what brought Obama into power. If you listen to those who voted for Obama, not asking them point blank, but just listen, they’ll babble on about our ‘image in the world.’
F*** the Euros and Commonwealths.
Every day I feel more and more like I am living in a science fiction novel.
Can you believe that this is a conversation that’s even taking place? (According to Garafalo it’s just racism straight up).
But like a lot of people, after reading that, my response is the same: How do I get a job there and move!?
The funny thing is this: The author talks about population flooding IN. It’ll be quite the site to see the jakey welfare population MOVING OUT! Can you imagine all those post-Katrina New Orleans welfare losers packing up and fleeing Houston? “Don’t the let door his ya in the ass on the way back into Louisiana.”
Would Louisiana and Arkansas follow Texas and OK?
You would see HUGE pockets of welfare jakeys flooding blue states like NY, CT, NJ, MA, CA and MI.
It would be like busting more holes in an already sinking ship.
whether we play into it or sit back and not…either way we are lost
A former KGB agent agrees with you. In 1985, he said the choice will be invasion or civil war.

This was a reply to “aboutTObegin”.
and your point is???? I just said that?!?!?!? I am only stating the obvious…so once again what is your point????
-aTb
oh yeah, and by the way, when you quote someone, make sure you convey the entire meaning of the quote and not just an excerpt that can be misinterpreted!
“whether we play into it or sit back and not…either way we are lost, the only thing now is to be focused on protecting the Constitution from this evil that has purported our Government and our msm!!!”

“AGAINST National Healthcare so I don’t have to pay for the lazy and illegal dirtbags!!!”
Anybody want to invite a Canadian province or 2…Alberta, Saskatchewan?
Those Western Canadian Provinces are a bit to the right wing aren’t they. Just start North of Michigan and keep going West. It is like a whole another country for the Eastern portion. It is also their “breadbasket”
Something else interesting about this - not only does Texas have a massive supply of it’s own oil, it is also a state with its own coastline. Trade with outside nations via the Gulf of Mexico would be relatively easy. If Texas were to get most of its population on a nuclear power source, it could sell a large quantity of its oil.
The Oil and Natural Gas is off the Louisiana Coast much more than in TX.
Actually 1/3 of the nation’s “energy” comes from Louisiana. Makes Alaska look like a sick puke.
Hey watch it there…Texas and Louisiana combined stuck in Alaska would look like a sick puke. And there is more oil than you can shake a stick at. Peace Brother.
And … maybe I’m wrong, but use some of that nuke stuff to build weaponry? Like Mahmoud I’m-A-Nutjob? I don’t know how many of our 2500+ nukes are in TX … Just a thought.
Kermit, you are right to an extent (except for the Alaska comment!), although, there are plenty of flights that go out to the Gulf via Texas that support the oil drilling! plus, Texas has many refineries as well…(which I am sure La. does too….but La. didn’t grab their balls)….
-aTb
You would have a housing boom in the new territory and a complete collapse (further collapse, sorry) of the housing markets in states that are de-populating.
Wow…the chaos that would ensue with a move like this is endless!
I see two potential problems, the cost of fencing the entire border, north and south. Keeping Bill and Hillary out of the new country to prevent them from running for President
(although I think Texans have too much sense to elect them).
Bill, Hillary and Mr. Janet Reno would be wanted terrorist’s for their actions at Waco. They would never dare step foot over the border.
Sounds interesting….a few messed up semi-socialist idea’s mixed in but, nothing that we couldn’t correct.
Would Obambi push a military response ? Sure he would….he loves to compare himself to Mr. Lincoln. The question is… would the military follow his orders ? Some would!…Some would not! I do know this…he would crank up the propaganda machine like this country has never seen and it would make the DHS report about right wing vet’s look like nothing!!!
He would stop all cross border traffic and impose a naval blockade of the Texas ports.
He would attempt to cut all communication lines with the non-free states and the outside world. The only thing in our favor here is that AT&T is a Texas Corp with a worldwide fiber network. They would have a choice to make….
The possibilities are endless.
It might be easier to just kill the 20% of the population that is hardcore anti-American in a quick and brutal civil war(we do have 80 million gun owners here)and just take the whole country back.
Yes….me thinks this is a better idea….but I’m just an old Jarhead…what do I know !!
To Texas ens
How is building going on now, down there by Houston, to Galveston. Last September I went down to clean up after Ike. And it seamed like there was a lot of building happening per-Ike. Just curios how things are now. I love my State, Oregon, but have a soft spot for the Gulf Coast Freeway area.
Joe average, the Battle of Cowpens was in the great state of SC not NC. Also SC did not start the CW, as was correctly pointed out, that criminal POTUS, dishonest ABE did.
Armando, I’m a commercial builder in the Dallas Fort Worth area, things have tapered off a bit but we’re still building nearly non stop. All the projects that have been put on hold are because the banks suddenly want 50% down(thanks to the usurper in chief), that’s pretty much a deal killer with $100 million projects! When the banks feel comfortable with commercial loans again it will be booming again with a healthy back log. Of course Texas has never seen the dramatic ups and downs that the coast regions have, our property values fell around 4% from the highs in 2007. What has happened in the past will happen again and again, it’s cyclical. The next building boom, at least here is going to be retirement communities and apartment buildings. Barney Frank, Chris Dodd, Pelosi, Reid, Franklin Raines and the rest of the Democratic nutters have put home ownership out of reach for the majority of Americans for tens of years to come, Thanks Barry!!
Sounds like things are a lot better there then hear. I’m a General all structures, All I’ve had is remodels the past year and a half, I was ready to make the trip permanent but, I went with relatives and we didn’t see eye to eye, so it didn’t work out. Its been pretty scrappy hear, working for peanuts and never turning anything down. Thanks for the info just might be headed that way, especially if you’ll have to defend your sovereignty. So on your projects do you have open biding or are all your subs lined up? I’m a member of active, if your open to new subs.I’m always looking for a plan B.
“Texodus: What Would Happen If They Really Did It?”
If they REALLY did it, first I’d move there. Then I’d easily gain 10 more years of life, prosperity, peace of mind and a whole new outlook on my childrens future (no matter the details).
This was written a couple of month ago.

Enjoy.
NC by birth, just moved to VA from SC and thinking if the shit hits the fan my southern ass is heading back to SC. I would love to see Sanford/Demint 2012
I am campaigning to help McDonnell win the Gov race. Im thinking it will be pretty nasty seeing as this state just turned blue and commie kaine [bo butt buddy]will want to pass the torch/sickle.
NC went blue during the ‘election’ so many yankees from vermont,NY NJ have moved to the south to escape taxes and have brought their ideology with them.
When/If the south rises again it will be bloody as there is a high black population/die hard bo bots.
=> American Woman
Yeah, I was pretty disappointed that my adopted NC swung the way it did, and now that Bev Perdue is screwing the masses here, I’m looking to move, myself, as I’m not really settled.
GRITS
Grits with cheese yummmy.
Just remember, somewhere along the line coming to
Texas across the Red River has claimed many a life.
And it has to be crossed from Oklahoma, Arkansas,
and Louisiana. Coming from Louisiana will be no
park walk either, Caddo Lake is in the way, along
with the Sabine river. Lot’s of snakes, mosquitoes,
and crocodiles.
Maybe there can be a trade program set up, so
the incoming can take the place of those outgoing.
There will be many bridges burnt, so buy a boat.
They have closed schools all over this area, but LIVE tv announcement of how much BIGGER the CINCO DE MAYO celebration will be this year. Lots more Street Fun FOR ALL….
Has Anyone Read Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six?
Don`t count out all the black folk just yet my secessionist friends. I`ve been working on some former military and country blacks giving them info on BHO they`ve never heard and schooling them on basic truths and they are waking up. Mind you not many but the ones that do get it are scared shitless of this POTUS and think him the anti-christ to which I almost can`t disuade them of the notion. BTW N.Fla the non Disney part of the state swarms with Unreconstructed Southrons that will die for our oaths.
listen, i’ll be going to disney in one week and i don’t care, now one is going to tell me it’s not the happiest place on earth!
We just went to Disneyland on Sunday. It was GREAT! The weather is mild and the sun is offset by a cool ocean breeze these days. The crowds were manageable. I hope your trip is just as nice!
One thing a lot of people forget….At least 20 Million to 30 Million Obama supporters “DON”T EXIST”. They are paper-only as the ACORN and LaRAZA votes, like the guy that voted 72 times in Ohio or the lady in Philly that said live on tv that she had voted 9 times.
We OUTNUMBER them, the time is NOW. The military won’t side with Obama.
exactly….the time is NOW!!!!!

:arrow:JOSEPHUS good insight on the property values — if only.
So not the endtimes?
My favorite part is where he says that the mentally ill or disabled would help out at the DMV . . . not really much of a change, wouldn’t you say
Looks to me like the South would rise again.
Sounds to me like Missouri would again become a State Divided.
Please do it Texas! I,ll be there to help develop more oil supplies. Maybe, we could even sell oil to the old United States at $200-$400 a barrel. Gotta love it
Everyone seems to recognize the harm that the 16th amendment has done to America! There is a July 12th movement afoot to repeal the 16th amendment using as a peg the centennial on July 12th 2009 of the birth of personal income taxation. Droves of citizens are going to http://www.repealincometax.com to sign a 2nd Declaration of Independence and promote July 12th as a National Day of Mourning. Check it out if you’re interested in returning the government to WE THE PEOPLE!
1. because i’m a pessimist, who would stop the liberal agenda from infiltrating Texas like it has in “America”?
2. how are the beaches?
1. All of the Texans would be there to stop the liberal agenda, life would become very hard for them….(kick all the austin hippies out because it will be very uncomfortable for them)
2. The beaches are wonderful…and you can drive on the beach!!!!
I love Texas!

No surfing in Texas, but I only did that when I was young. My only problem would be missing real mountains. It was FLAT over most of Texas that I’ve seen, and the heat fog was a new phonom for me.
The Lib’s would feel unwelcome and UNPAID, so eventually they would leave. It’s the spy’s and saboteurs left behind that I’d be leery of.
But, as a 3rd generation South West American, I always wanted to wear a cowboy hat and not get laughed at. So, count me in!
Texas and Oklahoma are wonderful ares, yes a lot flat in some areas…..
But West around El Paso is like being around Pheonix…and you expect to see John Wayne at any moment in Texas-Oklahoma Panhandle areas.
North of Dallas to the Texoma-area to far into Oklahoma is wonderful green rollng hills. Austin-San Antonio is known as “Hill Country” that has been compared to Palo Alto-San Jose area. Marshall-Longview to Nagodoches area is “Piney Woods” and “Big Thicket” areas with several famous fishing lakes. About 50-100 miles north of Texarkana into Southern Oklahoma is an area a lot like Appalachians around Ashville, NC.
I am already a member of the Republic of Texas. When the feces hits the air oscillating machine, we will close our borders. Bank it.
And here we all sit, not doing a damn thing to stop him. All we do is just keep saying, ‘One day I’ll do something….”
Those of us who can’t start it because of not having any means to do so, will help in any way possible when someone to start the shit….
WE are waiting on those who can!!!
Up here in north east Texas, only a short drive from
the Quachita Mountains, the Winding Stair that takes
you into Heavener Oklahoma. Great valley area
surrounded by mountains, it’s so great the vikings
staked it out hundreds of years ago. The rune stones
marking their territory still exist. Right beside
that over the state line into Arkansas, part of the
Quachitas into the Ozarks. High rolling hills, with
lots of hard woods, lakes, rivers, and some fine
little towns like Medina.
Over in the corner of Texas you’ve got Caddo Lake,
Lake O’ The Pines, Fork Lake, Patman Wright Lake,
Plus some fine rivers for fishing.
Surely a nice little patch of heaven.
And the people are friendly!
Pssstt! In Broken Bow Oklahoma there is now brown
and rainbow trout fishing coming out of Broken Bow
Lake.
